Did the math when I got home. On my 300+ mile trip today, I averaged 21.8mpg

Damm you lol. That's not bad. I wish that was me. I'm lucky to get 15 even if I don't go over 2000 rpms. I Need to change my muffler and see what happens

I had Magnaflow on my Grand Am (3.4L V6). Sounded like a V8 at lower RPMs, not so much at high RPMs. It was pretty loud for me, but I also didn't have any resonators and a pretty cheap cat also...

This was 200 miles of me doing anywhere between 60-95mph toying with some "sports cars" on the highway. Regear your truck!

Figured I would offer it up here before I went to craigslist.. I'm looking at getting a 2002-2004 1st gen with a v6 or a 4 cylinder (has to be manual in the I4). I was going to keep it and make it a dedicated trail rig, but having 2 trucks doesnt make sense and a the bigger down payment I get, the lower monthly payments I will have

I agree. I love my magnaflow! I don't understand the appeal for having an obnoxiously loud exhaust system. Miguel's exhaust is borderline for me... And I had built a Factory 5 Cobra kit with a 427 before I sold it and bought my truck; I know loud :D.... Typically if I hear a nicely tuned exhaust I appreciate it. If I hear a truck with essentially long pipes, I create a wonderful hypothesis of a case of little-man's syndrome..... It's amusing!

Yeah magnaflows sound good but just alittle to quiet for me. I love the sound of my fm 40. Just the right sound and not to loud. It's a truck and I want it to sound like one. Idk I just hate a quiet exhaust note lol. I might check out the Lou's custom ss409 muffler. I know aj had one and it sounded good. I'll have to look.

I love my new truck but miss my Tacoma
Miguel, the way your tail pipes are directed you are scooping air into the exhaust. You need to have the tail pipes turned. I told you this at Billys house. This could definately be a reason for your bad gas mileage. This is the type of thing that makes me keep stock or only get a well engineered cat back system. BTW Flowmasters are proven to make Tacoma's loose horsepower.

Oh yeah I remember you told me that. Thanks for reminding me. I'm gonna get a new muffler, tips and have them turn the tips so there looking better so the air doesn't get at them. I know flow masters suck on Tacomas. But it was a free muffler so I thought I would try it out. Damm need to get a new one. Thanks.
Maybe getting one and stuff will help my mpg

I have a better idea. Get a sawzall and just cut your exhaust about a foot away from the exhaust port on the headers. That way you won't have air coming back into the exhaust pipes and you'll have more noise and power loss than you could shake a stick at!!!

Haha. No way. I'm not that stupid. It would be so loud just like open headers. I would get pulled over in minutes haha. I can't afford a ticket.

Mine wasn't to obnoxious to other drivers, more for anyone inside my car, which is why I'll leave the resonators on from now on.

Magnaflow's have that straight through design that's supposed to increase HP, but I don't know how it reacts with our VVT-i. Wasn't a problem in my Grand Am.

I found you the solution to your MPG problems.

Good luck finding a 1st gen. Most of the New England ones have been smashed due to rusted frames and the ones that are left are worth a fortune due to demand.

Haha. Now that's just pure stupid lol. Coming from the speakers. Who the hell thought of that. You can see how the sound doesn't match up to his driving lol. They did something like that on pimp my ride and it was so bad. It would be funny to have and play around with but that's it lol
