I'm so close BUT please help me out....

Here is the deal...

I have already purchased Maxtrac spindles and All Pro standard leafs. For the shocks/struts I was planning to get 5100s front and back. This is where my dilemma comes in.

My truck has 100,000 miles on it therefor I am thinking since I am replacing that much that I should go ahead and replace the coil springs in the front also. I was planning on setting the front adjustables at 0.85 to give me a total lift of about 5" in the front which would match perfectly with the All Pro leafs in the back. That is if I keep my stock coils or buy some newer (standard) coils from someone here. I have been told that my coils would not fare well with the Bilsteins at this point, and I agree.

I have also been told that I should buy some OME or Eibach coils to complement the Bilsteins BUT if I add one of those I am looking at 1.6" - 3" of lift on top of the 4" that I will be getting from the spindles and I definitely don't want that much lift.

I wouldn't mind going Eibachs at 1.6" on top of 4" spindles but that would leave me with having to put a 1/2" - 1" block in the back which makes me nervous about having to get a carrier bearing drop kit.

One last thing is that I would like to keep the ride as comfortable as possible since this is strictly a daily driver and will probably never go offroad.

If you have taken the time to read this, I sincerely appreciate it and am very much interested in your suggestions/input.

Let me keep this short and simple for you.

I would suggest you go with your original plan and not worry about the coils at this time. If the truck hasn't hit dirt (I mean really using the suspension ie beating on it), then your coils should suffice to the new shocks.

After the install if you don't like the ride height then get new coils, but you have to realize that you're camber may not go back to stock and need a UCA replacement.

If you are really interested though, a coilover upgrade is a great way to go. You get to adjust your ride height and get to have a better shock upgrade which will not give out on you very easy. Also these can be rebuilt so you never have to replace them.

On the newer Tacoma's they call it a coilover, but it's really a strut. True coilovers can be adjusted by a spanner wrench.

 

This is nice to here (regarding the stock coils).

Please explain camber not being back to stock. Everything that I have read is that the spindle lift will keep you away from uca's as long as you keep the billies awat from 2.5".

 

Basically when you lift a vehicle with a shock the suspension will drop out and follow the same angle from its original state. Meaning. your current tire angle is close to +/- 0 deg camber = | . When you lift it, they will look similar to this; \-/ stock.

As you mentioned which I didn't catch before was you will have a lift spindle so you may be good to go as far as the camber issue goes because of your spindle upgrade. The LCA camber shims should allow enough room to run a good enough camber/tire wear.
