I Have just ordered a 2012 4x4 and i got the dealer to install a 4-6" lift. I am going to use the wheels that are off my 09.
    They are 16" motometel ( i had a 3" spacer lift on my 09).
I am looking it up and every 4-6" lift says it requires 17" Wheels ????
    can any one explain.

    EDIT/ UPDATE:
I looked again they are 17inches. but another question.
    ok so good news MAYBE???
The dealer is going to put on a 6" procomp lift stage 2 now .(long story)
But the web site says it requires 18"+ wheels.
My question is if my 17" motometel rims with 4.53" back spacing fit on my 09 with a 3" lift and VSC will they fit with this lift on my 2012?

Whenever you go over a 3 inch you have to get spindles and im pretty sure those are causing you to have to have bigger rim size.

How did you go about getting them to do that???? Are they going to cover that under warranty, seems like to me that dealers try everything in their power to not cover a truck that has been lifted. Is it a DropBracket lift?

He doesnt have a spindle lift for sure, he's 4x4

Yes it will be covered under warrenty because the dealer is intalling it
And the actual lift is To be determained there aftermarket fokes have to spec it out. I told them i want a 4" lift but 6" is ok to. And i Made it very clear no spacers.
I am not aware of a 4" lift that is not a dropbracket lift?

Oh ok, thats pretty cool. I'm pretty sure the only way they are going to be able to get those numbers for you w/o stressing your CVs will be w/ a drop bracket. I dont know crap about DB lifts so have no clue w/ why 16" wheels will not work. :notsure:

    Too many to list..
I have the Stage 2 and my wheels are 17". Maybe the VCS is what requires it to be 18" :notsure:.

    Call Pro Comp?

    I have a question.

If I were to go with a RCD 4" lift for my tacoma 4X4. How would it lift without new spindles?

OME 3" lift with 885 coils. OME Shocks with TSB 1.5 AAL. 285/75/16 KM2s. XD Hoss 16" wheels. DDM Tuning 6000K HIDs, H10 6000K Fogs. BHLM. Debaged. 20% tint on front windows.
The RCD lift is A drop bracket lift, it requires the cross member to be cut off so the truck's front diff can be lower. The Drop Bracket also relocates the LCAs so the truck will achieve the 4" lift. I think the kit comes with new spindles.

And to the OP you need bigger wheels with the appropriate Back spacing and diameter, for the wheels to clear the tie rods if you don't know already...
