how much shock travel is it?

With the shock fully extended, measure the length of the shaft.

can you even fit an 8 in coil in the stock arms i would think it would take alot of work to get them in. how did you not figure out they were 8 in coils intell you had them all the way installed. are you sure they are 8 in coils ?

Of the lower arm right away my buddy and I said there way to long.
You live nearby maybe you can help be out I'm just down the hill.

how bad was the control arm angle? was pre-load all the way out to zero? i might be interested in trying to make these work on my truck. want to hold 3" of lift with lots of steel armor, and it seems the only way to do that with oem replacement coils is a crap ton of pre-load...

if you could get an extended length measurement for me that would be awesome..

Shoving a bigger shock where it doesent belong isent going to help you with the weight you need to put a heavier spring on the coil like a 700lb depending on how heavy of a bumper

I would be glad to help but what exactly do you need help doing it seems like you just need to get these coils sold and buy a pair of decent shocks (king, fox, icon, swayaway) that are oem replacement or ext. Travel

what i'm getting at is that all you do by pre loading a shock that isnt long enough for the desired height is strain the shock making it more likely to top out. and by putting a heavier spring in all you do is essentially the same thing, it will limit the up travel if you dont have a lot of weight on the front. by using a longer shock with a softer spring and no pre load, you have a better ride, maintain the 3" height have better flex and more downtravel when the suspension is unloaded. obviously it would need to be strapped to prevent the uca hitting the coil spring.

    is my logic flawed here?

Not flawed but by trying to stuff the 8 in coil where no larger then a 6 in should fit your going to have the shock already compressed 2 inches then it is valved to be at ride height. and may run into the issue of bottoming out the shock

longest shocks you can fit in stock arms is 6". 8" shocks will bottom out way before hitting stock bumps and you'd have to strap it
