My girlfriend is getting a Frontier, makes my Tacoma look bad...

Not trolling, nor looking for attention. It's the truth.

The Tacoma series is sold exclusively in North America and is targeted excessively at Americans. Toyota realized 90% of America drives exclusively on paved roads thru their suburban communities and want a truck that is more akin to a car than to a tractor. They also knew the "Legend of Toyota Reliability and Quality" was firmly ingrained and cut as many corners as they could.

I'm sorry, a Tacoma is no Third Gen 4Runner, it is no FJ80 and it's no 80's Pick Up (Hilux). The truck was designed neither by the same company, nor the same engineers, nor with the same goals.

That said, I still own it and love it. The Nissan is just fugly, but I should have gave it an actual chance and not simply assumed the Taco would be as nice as my 4runner.

Per Toyota - 4X4 4.0 Acess Cab Tacaoma has 9.1" of ground clearance, the Hilux SR5 4X4 has 11.7" of ground clearance yet runs a 29" tire instead of a 30".

I had an 08 Frontier and blew the transmission. The ride was smooth, but everything else felt cheap. When it came time to buy another truck, the choice was clear: TACOMA. is superior in every way. The sticker price was a lot higher, but the quality is too. This truck is a keeper.

To each his own, but one of the selling points for me on my offroad doublecab was the fact that it DIDN'T have auto leather seats. I can adjust the seat in seconds instead of waiting for electric motors to churn into place. Not to mention, the potential cost of repairing broken seats outweighs any convenience. Leather is too hot to bother with here in so-cal. The cloth sport seats are really sharp, supportive, and breathe well. I would have gotten manual-crank windows if I had the choice. Sunroof? Who cares?

The only way a Frontier can make a Tacoma look bad is if you roll the Tacoma enough times to make it look like wadded up tin foil or dick it out all donk style. Year model, features, color all irrelevant.....Frontier still queer.

I had a 99 frontier and drove the piss out of it. They were good looking trucks back then and I never had a single issue with it. Naturally, I looked at frontiers when truck shopping and they have gotten ugly as balls. I couldn't get past how horrible the interior is now.

I'm just effin around, I really don't have an issue with them other than there are toyotas for sale so why buy a nissan. There are worse trucks out there but still, it's not a tacoma so why bother, lol.

As everyone else said, Tacoma's will always sell for more, hold a better value, and are more reliable and last longer, the luxuries of the Frontier's are to just attract people away from the other mid-sized trucks (Tacoma) to make them think they're better. I've had a Frontier before and it's nothing compared to the Tacoma! Be happy you have a beautiful truck. The extra features are just one more thing to tear up and break as time goes on... (sunroof leak, tearing leather.)

cousin has an 09 access cab frontier, and it weighs as much as my DC LB with ARB and 33's. I lol'd at how heavy it is and feels. the doors are super heavy, granted they have a reliable feel to them, but off road, good god that thing sucks, and his pick up bed has a drop in liner thats spongy in some places, like theres gaps in the frame, idk, I've always felt my 06 tacoma was better than his 09 frontier, even when they were both stock

edit: and his resell value is already lower than mine and i have 20k more miles than him and his is 3 years newer

Results would probably be the same but they should have at least compared similar trim packages. The pro-4x would be a better choice vs the TRD. I like to see more evenly matched products in these shoot outs.

It seems that a lot of companies do that. They put all these gadgets in their vehicles to get people to buy them. It over shadows the fact of the reliability and overall quality in and out. I would take a base model Tacoma over a full to the nines, gadget filled competitor.

Why are you promoting a video where they give the nod offroad to a TRD Offroad and compare it to a Nissan that has no rear locker and no ATRAC equivalent? My GF's truck has both of those and is in the same price bracket as my truck... do I like all her excess plastic and unsupportive seats? No. But that video is not a fair comparison.

Not sure what your point is....this can be said about every manufacturer selling cars in the U.S. Those that want an off road vehicle that may not ride as nice on the highway are BY FAR the minority
