WTF is it? At the gas station near by they have it advertised for $.40 cheaper than 87gas.

It is meant for heavy machinery such as tractors and bulldozers. Here in Michigan I believe it is a different color from the regular "on road" diesel. I am pretty sure it so much less because they don't put the road taxes on the "off-road" diesel.

Off-road diesel is mostly used for farm trucks and equipment although, it is also used in construction equipment. It is the same diesel that you would put in your pickup truck except without the federal tax, and is also dyed red. If you are pulled over by a trooper and they find out you are running red diesel the fine is massive. You can also be charged with federal tax evasion if it is on a large scale of abuse.

Many dealers will not warranty new engines that are running off road diesel. Even if the fuel system has been flushed, if you dont change the fuel filter out (gets changed about every 5k miles on a diesel engine) it is very easy to tell that because the filter will be dyed pink/red.

Ok thanks for the info. That is the first time I have ever heard of it. It is only $1.49 when 87 gas is $1.89

You can get marked gas also, no taxes on it, for off hi-way use only! I get my gas at a bulk station, much cheaper then a gas station!

    Nothing yet, brand new!
I have seen tanks checked at various events and check stations. It does occur and it is very costly if you get caught.
Here they dye the fuel red for farm/offroad. I can't remember the fine but it is mucho grande to say the least.
