Second question after seeing the img code, are you Manxman on ADVRIDER.com? I think I rode the BC Big Traillie ride you organised in '09!

^Exactly, more people think like that the safer all of us riders are. However I have seen someone's right arm sheared right off going under guide rail. He had a one piece leather suit on though.

Had a great ride to eastern Washington last weekend. Here are a couple of shots taken at Chief Joseph Dam while my buddy Mike gave directions to a fellow traveler who was driving a Mercedes motor home. It's a rough life!

Gear is intended to mitigate risk, not to ensure that nothing can go wrong. It's like an airbag. Airbags save a lot of lives and reduce a lot of injuries, but people still die in car accidents.

I had to go back and read your responses. At first I thought there was some sarcasm. Reason being it sounded very much like a story that floats around my area. The story around here is against wearing helmets. It's stated that a rider wearing a helmet slid under "a guard rail" and his helmet caught the guard rail and it tore his head off. If he weren't wearing a helmet he'd be alive today.

It seams everyone has a story to support their belief. For me, I never ride without a helmet, protective jacket and protective shoes. Maybe it comes from so many years on a dirtbike (which would be my prefered type of biking) but something just doesn't feel right without the "stuff". Glad to hear that guy faired pretty well considering how it could have turned out.:amen:

No I fully support wearing helmets and all gear. I dont ride with riding pants but always jeans. I wear a full face helmet and a racing jacket. Even when I ride through states that dont require helmets mine is on. If I am going 2 minutes down the road I gear up as well. Safety First........ not to sound like the ad for motorcycle safety or anything.

The vstar looks nice. Is the 950 a newer size? I sold yammies for a while and they only had the 650 and 1100 when I was at a dealership.

I'm just a old geezer on a bagger. I've been riding 7 years now, maybe I'm an intermediate skill level. Part of the deal with my wife is that I have $500,000 in life insurance, a full helmet (for an open coffin), and a promise that if it's a bad one, I'll drag myself into traffic.
In Texas, it's hard to convince myself to wear a jacket all the time when it's 107 and 75% humidity. I wear everything else- boots, gloves, good jeans, etc. But when it's less than 80, I feel a lot better wearing the armor.

had a bad wheel bearing on the front of the vtx...pulled it off and pulled the bearings and re-installed the new ones with loan a tools from autozone...i mis-adjusted the left fork. i test drove it and it quickly became apparent. loosened the pinch bolts and got it right. the rotor looks a little funny on the outer diameter but feels identical to the rest. just a little built up alum that rubbed on it...

I originally pulled the airbox snorkel and shimmed the needle. Then I reinstalled the snorkel, added a second snorkel, and added a second washer to shim the needle a bit more. I then did the Dynojet re-jet kit. I finally settled on the entirely different FCR-MX pumper carb (rebuilt and jetted by MX_Rob himself) with the full airbox mod. This COMPLETELY changed the character of the bike. Other mods include:

    -GSX-R1000 muffler
-Cogent Dynamics revalved shock w/ heavier Eibach spring (added internal/external anodized coating and rebound dampening adjustment)
-RaceTech emulators in forks w/ heavier Eibach springs
-Sargent seat (best seat I found after trying three others!)
-Procycle.us lowered footpegs & custom lowered rear brake pedal (not shown in first picture below)
    -Rox anti-vibration handlebar risers
-ProTaper Fatbars in KX high bend
    -Pro Grip 714 gel grips
    -Cycra Probend hand protectors
-Trail Tech Vapor digital dash/speedometer w/ oil temp sensor
    -Suzuki skid plate
-Replaced stock tail light w/ low profile version from a DR-Z250
-Kientech.com fender eliminator w/ led tail & license plate lights
    -KTM front fender
-Turbo City (TCI) Borrego tail rack
-Clarke 3.7 gal plastic fuel tank (for TAT trip only)
-Pirelli MT-21 front tire; Dunlop D-606 rear (for TAT trip only)
    -TwinAir filter
-Removed upper chain roller entirely; replaced lower chain roller w/ sealed ball bearing version
-Safety-wired the NSU for peace of mind

Nice, I've heard great things about the pumper carbs. Just can't justify the money as a college student:)

The 950 came out in 2009. It won the "Metric of the Year" award in 2009 from V-Twin Magazine. She's a great mid-line cruiser.....Does everything that "I" want in a bike...

Mine is a Sportster 1200c. I've done a few things to it and still have some more stuff planned.

Here it is when I bought it.
