Well when people on a Tacoma forum bash Tacoma owners for there purchase it may cause some butt hurting they don't have to like it but they also don't have to bash it. Sure everyone can have an option but c'mon it's starting to get a little out of hand.

It's the internet bud, people can have whatever "tone" they want. Also, he seems happy, otherwise he wouldn't be defending his purchase.

The main benefit of this package IMO is that you can trade it in later or sell it and it will retain its value and the value of this package. If you put mods on an SR5 taco, you are going to lose value when you trade in.

Factory upgrades > "aftermarket" when it comes to resale (as everyone already knows. that's nothing new)

PERSONALLY, i wouldnt buy it. I got an offroad and put billys and OME shocks on for basically the same set up (minus the rear which I kept mostly stock). But, i like it i guess, and if somebody else is buying it, i am happy for them/do not give a shit.

Well this has been an entertaining read. At the end of the day, who gives a fuck? If someone likes the package and wants something lifted right off the lot, more power to them. It's certainly better than the garbage spacer lifts some dealers throw on. Would I buy this truck? No. The $5k this package allegedly costs is pretty much right around what I've spent so far on my truck and that's gotten me a 3" lift, UCA's, tires, wheels, exhaust, Satoshi, headunit, subwoofer, side steps, tint, Wet Okoles and all the other small misc bits here and there I've gotten. Personally I'd rather have something I've pieced together myself and will likely not come across too many people with the exact mods on the exact truck. I could care less that I won't get the money back out of that stuff and I'll have to part it out since it won't help resale. I didn't buy my truck worried about what I'm going to do when I sell it. The Tacoma could have had the worst resale in the segment and I would have still bought it.

People aren't hating just to hate or because they're jealous. Its just a lot of coin for a package you could so for substantially less. To me it's like paying a couple grand more just for the warranty aspect. Does that mean people shouldn't buy it? Nope. Buy what you want it doesn't bother me one way or the other. I just prefer to get the best bang for my buck rather than having something right off the dealer lot. Maybe these threads wouldn't immediately go to derp if the Baja owners would stop suggesting they have such a superior setup that no one else could have because of "custom valving." Perhaps they're not suggesting this but it's how it completely comes off. They love the way their trucks ride, and I like the way mine rides. I just don't have the need to sound like I'm defending my purchase to myself.

 

Didn't mean to start a shTT storm, I just thought the suspension upgrade was nice but I am not into graphics, some are..no biggie.

Personally, I don't want real big tires or more than an inch or two lift.

It's all preference and just because you're into something a little different you don't need to piss down someone else's neck.
That just shows lack of maturity and people skills and will limit you in life.

 

Shit storm aside, the simple answer to your question is you can obtain a couple inches of lift through numerous different aftermarket setups that will work just as fine for you for a fraction of what this would cost if you could purchase the kit right from the dealer.

Good selling point for a truck that was made to go off road.

 

even if I had exactly 40k to spend on a truck, the baja would be the very last tacoma I would buy. JMO
