i kinda agree. i’m saving for new head unit with Bluetooth, so that if i get a call when driving i can answer it. i don’t text and drive, about the most i do when driving is changing radio or a song on ipod. ipod stays on shuffle all i have to do is hit the button for next song till i get to one i want to hear. don’t even look at it. or i may get a pice of gum.

 

who wants to bet OP dose some of the things he listed, when he is driving??

we already have "distracted driving" laws in Alberta

Restricts drivers from:
using hand-held cell phones
texting or e-mailing
using electronic devices like laptop computers, video games, cameras, video entertainment displays and programming portable audio players (e.g., MP3 players)
entering information on GPS units
reading printed materials in the vehicle
writing, printing or sketching, and
personal grooming

if you're doing any of the above, you're not paying enough attention to the road.
more often than not, when I see someone driving like a dumbass they're talking on the phone.

I know I'm not the only one who gets mad at people who drive and are doing something and almost hit your car.

 

No I wasn't. Just because a lot of people did or do text while driving doesn't make it any less stupid.

I've lost four fellow motorcyclist friends/family in the last five years thanks to drivers on the phone/texting.

There is no excuse! It can wait. A text or call cannot be more important than a life.

 

Reminds me of the time I saw a trooper with the Kentucky State Police using the backsides of his hands to steer while using a flip phone (not sure if texting or dialing or whatever) in EACH hand!

 

It already is illegal in most states to do anything in a vehicle which interferes with the safe operation of that. Of course, the problem is determining exactly what is interference. Most agree a cell phone and texting qualify (which is why some states have banned or restricted those). Fewer would agree with eating, while even fewer would agree with the radio. The remainder you mentioned just aren't common enough to garnish much attention from the general public.

Beyond that, I pretty much agree with Rich91710's earlier comments (posted in message #2 in this thread). Same with ColtsTRD's earlier comments (posted in message #42 in this thread).

 

Logic and reasoning have no place in today's society. People who do nothing but fuck us around receive awards for it. How can anyone possibly suggest that we simply drive when in an automobile without multitasking? (insert Napolean Dynamite gosh here)

 

What about a special license and driving test where you eat, text, get a bj, change the radio, and drive with your knee all at the same time? Cause I'm pretty Damn good at it, I know I could pass.

but that's the point...if you are driving 30 mph in a 50 mph zone, and weaving back and forth in the lane like a drunk, because your text is so important...and I'm behind you trying to get to my destination...

you ARE bothering me and many others.

and I don't want to fuck with you (I believe I made that clear above)...I just want you to be removed from the public road ways. driving is a privilege not a right. there are circumstances where that privilege may be removed from certain individuals...you may be one of those people.

Honestly... I think the vast majority of idiots I encounter are usually gripping the steering wheel tight or slouched back and doing nothing but driving. They just suck.

Occasionally someone will be talking on their phone. I tend to drive a fair amount every day too, always in a fair amount of traffic.

Regardless I don't support making all things illegal in this country. I've never bought into that driving is a privilege thing.
