How to turn off you seatbelt reminder sound

It worked perfectly on my 2008 Double Cab

Short version:

1) Turn the Truck 'ON', but do not start the engine. Cycle your trip reset knob until it reads ODO. Turn the ignition back off. Wait a couple of seconds.
2) Make sure seat belt is not fastened
3) Turn the ignition back on, do not start the truck. As soon as you see everything light up, press and hold the trip reset knob and do a long 12 second count.
4) Keep your finger on the trip reset knob. Fasten your seat belt, as soon as you fasten your seat belt, you should see the ODO display go from XXXX miles to "b-on". At that time take your finger off the trip reset knob and press it again. It should cycle to "b-off". You should be all set and turn the ignition off and unfasten your seat belt.

Long Version from repair manual:

This setting is only valid for the buzzer which sounds at the 5 km/h (3 mph) or more.
SEAT BELT BUZZER ON/OFF SETTING (Procedure "A")
The seat belt buzzer ON/OFF setting, which is a setting of the buzzer function of the combination meter, can disable the driver and front passenger side seat belt buzzers.

"b-oFF" indicates that the buzzer is OFF.
"b-on"indicates that the buzzer is ON.

The seat belt buzzer ON/OFF setting will be finished (the odometer will display "ODO") if the ODO/TRIP switch is not operated for 10 seconds or more.
In this case, perform step 11 to check that the buzzer ON/OFF setting is complete.

If it is not complete, start from step 1 again.

(1) Driver and front passenger side seat belt buzzers

1. Turn the ignition switch on (IG).
2. Press the ODO/TRIP switch until the odometer displays "ODO".
3. Ignition switch off.
4. Turn the ignition switch on (IG).
5. Press the ODO/TRIP switch immediately (within 6 seconds) and hold it down for 10 seconds or more.
6. Continue holding down the ODO/TRIP switch and fasten the driver side seat belt.
7. Check that the odometer displays either "b-on" or "b-oFF".
8. Press the ODO/TRIP switch to change the display to "b-oFF".
9. Ignition switch off.
10.Turn the ignition switch on (IG).
11.Check that no buzzer sounds.

(2) Front passenger side seat belt buzzer

1. Turn the ignition switch on (IG).
2. Press the ODO/TRIP switch until the odometer displays "ODO".
3. Ignition switch off.
4. Turn the ignition switch on (IG).
5. Sit in the front passenger seat. Press the ODO/TRIP switch immediately (within 6
seconds) and hold it down for 10 seconds or more.
6. Sit in the front passenger seat. Continue holding down the ODO/TRIP switch and
fasten the front passenger side seat belt.
7. Check that the odometer displays either "b-on" or "b-oFF".
8. Press the ODO/TRIP switch to change thedisplay to "b-oFF".
9. Ignition switch off.
10.Turn the ignition switch on (IG).
11.Check that no buzzer sounds

I figured it was already done but I did this not to long ago and I just wanted to pass the word.

It all started over my buddy with a silverado complaining about how annoying my Tacoma is with its seatbelt noise. He said that silverados are work trucks and they dont have a seatblet noise because GM takes into consideration that you have to get in and out of the truck. lol I was like wow.

Didn't work for my 12 either man, had to get the guys at the dealership to disable it with a computer. Only took a few minutes though and free

 

This will not work on the 2011's with the white faced gauges, or 2012's. You will have to take it into the dealer and get them to do it. I've been trying to get it shut off but my dealership won't do it for liability reasons.

You can also take off the speaker that's attached to the gauge cluster.

 

I haven't searched yet but does anyone know off the top of there head how to disable the horn hocking when arming the factory alarm?

 

go back to the dealer and tell them to remove their dealer installed alarm. its going to give you issues down the road and that will disable the horn honking issue

 

To turn off your honk noise go to your trucks manual and look up alarm system. It will tell you how to turn it off. You will end up pushing in your alarm light a few times and that disables it. I have turned on my honk and turned it off many times.

And I wouldn't go to the dealer and disable the whole alarm unless you go get an new alarm system. (after market) My alarm system doesn't mess up any of my stuff.

 

Have you taken a look at the shitty install they do with the dealer installed alarms? Just look under your driver side kick panel

The alarm unit is normally made by karr, which the dealer has a 3rd party do the installed which is a hack job because they are paid by the car when they install it. And every car on the dealer lot has to have one per their dealer insurance policy. So at the point of sale of the car/truck whatever the dealer will try and charge the customer a stupid amount of money for a piece of shit $20 alarm. Talking to some dealers here in the socal area when shopping for my truck they tried to force on the alarm package for 1k, 800, 500,300,200, 100...

A nice aftermarket alarm is nice, but a good alarm is only good if the installer knows what the hell they are doing.

 

Dang I didn't know that. Wow they made some good profit off that!! I guess the only thing that will keep the truck from being stolen is the chip I the key. Won't start whithout it???

To get the seat belt buzzer off I heard a great tip.

BUCKLE UP and it shuts off.
