Added extra awesomeness to its original awesomeness.

If you have rust behind your paint then your paint will be bubbled/peeling and you have a much bigger problem than fluid film will solve. If it's just starting to form under the paint then the miniscule amount of air/moisture that may be trapped wouldn't go very far.

As far as prep goes, just wash the existing dirt and grime off. Fluid Film can be applied directly over tightly-adhering rust. If you have heavy rust scale, you'd want to clean it up prior to applying.

Fluid Film is non-conductive and can be used as a dielectric. It works excellent at protecting electrical systems.

It sprays on amber and then becomes clear. You will know it is there by the shine on the surface, which is why it can also be used as a wax.

Fluid Film is a once a year vehicle undercoating. You may need to touch up the wheel wells.

He just said its non-conductive. I am pretty sure you want your terminals to be as conductive as possible.

I never apply it to the actual post.... I apply mine to the outside of the terminals. Never had an issue in almost 20 years that way. I also use Mobil1 to do so.

This product is ORMD and if you know what that means youll understand why the company isn't willing to send out a 3oz sample and spend over $10 in mail charges to do so.

If there is rust under your pair you won't always see signs of it until it is too late. In my experience almost any amount of rust that you can notice that is just covered up will continued to spread, it's just a matter of time. I'm just giving everyone a heads up before they take this as a cure or a stop to rust. If you want to try it that's fine but I hope Not everyone will take this blindly as an instant stop/cure for rust. As a lubricant and to keep my undercarriage clean I most definately will be purchasing a can in the future. But I will not be applying it on top of any rsut to stop it. Just my 2 cents

Dude it's just a coating....and the company was nice enough to give us samples so we could try it. If it slows it down that's great. Even NASA can't stop wires from corroding in billion dollar space craft.

I'm sure it's better then the WD-40 many people spray their frames with currently.

So what do you advise to slow the rust down on your boxed sections of frame?

I get that its a coating, and i appreciate the fact they are nice enough to give you guys free samples. thats very cool of them. But they're saying it "stops existing rust on contact". Not trying to make a big deal of it i just want people to have realistic expectations rather than expecting a miracle product thats stops rust. My concern is also more so directed to rust on panels such as a door or a box side where you could essentially coat it and think its stopping your rust. frames rust thats a fact unless you seal it up right away before any corrosion begins. maybe this would work for that if you started with a new frame maybe it wouldn't. linex would probably work better, but to each his own. and yes i agree that it would be better than wd-40, i don't know why they hell you would ever do that but hey thats just me. once again just stating my 2 or 3 cents so people have realistic expectations, not trying to make a big deal or hijack this thread. if you still have comments about my skepticism please pm me so i don't steer this thread in a different direction. It sounds like a really cool product and its awesome of them to give out free samples. my apologies if i seemed ungrateful of what was being done.

If it stops the chemical reaction which causes the rust to form, then essentially, it stops rust. And by stopping, I mean only while the product is intact and fully covering the area that is starting to rust. It's not like this is the only company that uses those type of facts to their advantage. I don't think anyone on so far in this thread, thinks it will completely stop or heal rust, just by spraying something on.

Anyway, thanks to Dan (OP) I got my sample today, and will give a shot.

The main reason I want to try this is to keep more of the salt off my undercarriage and drivetrain. The only thing that will keep anything from rusting would be keeping it stored in a controlled enviroment!

I've read a little about Fluid Film in an old thread regarding the use of old engine oil and/or tranny fluid as a protectant against the salt used on the roads around here. I used to do this, but would like to try something a little less impactive on the enviroment. It seems the cost is quite reasonable, so I am giving it a try this winter.

The freebie sample is a great perk. They are showing quite a bit of confidence in their product by giving away as much of it as they are.

    Thanks again Dan!

Mine came in the mail yesterday and already have some plans for it! So far I'm thinking about using it in some dings that removed the paint and started to rust and also using it as a wax on the rear chrome bumper. If there's enough left, I'll lube the motorcycle chain with it.

Thanks for the great deal Dan0
