Best TRUE 3in Susp. Lift

i went through rough country for my lift. it came with a shackle and a coilover spacer. it rides the same as it always did. and i forded a ditch that was an honest foot deep coming across at an angle and all 4 tires stayed on the ground. i was impressed. most important to me is keepind the standard geometry and daily driver comfort

 

Your comfort won't last long. I had a rough country lift, sucked

 

what went wrong?

 

Just was spongy up front. My lift was a bit different but still. Spacers with make the ride much more rough over time.

But by then I'm sure you can afford a real lift

 

i dont even think that can be possible because the spacer only goes on top of the coilover. no removing the coil spring. i didnt even have to remove a balljoint or sway bar end link. i just pushed down on the lower a arm and slid in the lower shock mount. yours might have been a little different?

Ahhh well then more stresss on shock. Still not great.

And I'm not starting another spacer argument with you Ben. You only defend them cause you have em and are broke lol and regardless they are not a great way to lift no matter what.

Ok I don't get how in the world you just pushed down on the UCA to put the shock back in once you have put the spacer on top. I got my strut out, put on the spacer, and could not for the life of me get the shock back in. I put a crowbar and tried to pull up on the spring and down on the UCA and I can't hold the crowbar, align the shock, and put the bolt in all at the same time. I even put the jack that came with my truck in the wheel well and made it push down on the UCA. That didn't work either. And I'm not trying that again. The jack popped out and almost hit me. So please tell me. How'd ya do it?? I really don't want to pay to get it installed since it is so easy and I was so close.

 

it would definiteley be easier to do it if you drop the lower control arm. we just put a big big adjustable on the upper and pulled it down. slid in the bottom of the shock and slid in the bolt. i had the privelidge of using my fathers car hoist. i have had the ball joints off previously. and all i had to do to release them was to push down on the lower and hit the knuckle with a bfh. (easier with two people) oh and we put in the top first as well. just what we did. you dont have to follow my instructions though. however you can make it work.

 

Not to interfere, but i have a 2" "spacer" or "leveling kit" up front for now, i paid $65 off ebay, and me and dad put mine in, in a matter of 2 afternoons, without taking all the junk apart like the instuctions say, and not to offend the ones with "spacer lifts" but i liked my "leveling kit" at first cause it stiffened up the ride, but now the ride kinda sucks. and ive worked my butt off all summer, in the hay field, and other odd jobs, now comes the glorious day im waiting to do, order all the new toytec/eibach stuff, for the guys who think they cant wait, in all honesty, its worth it, i have set for hours searching these forums for everything i can find, and you will thank everyman personally, if you save your money to get a "true" lift instead of spacer junk. the ride will be 10x better, and everything will last longer, and you dont have near the risk of breaking, and cracking stuff. cause everything is not in strain.
But heck thats just my $0.02

i didnt learn anything the hard way? lol, im still happy with it, its just time to upgrade. but i have a MAJOR question, im doing the 5100's eibach coils, and a rear 2" aal. thats all i have money for and seems popular, but my biggest concern is UCA's... do i need them or not. what happens if i dont get them. cause i really dont have the money for these things, and im trying to keep my parents out of things from now on. i want to buy my junk myself. but of course some of these items are coming for chirstmas. and prolly my birthday. cause i cant work alot during school. so i dont have the money for everything.
