Yes, it is a buddy program. You can both do it and it will allow you guys to have similar jobs to be at the same base. I was going to do it with a friend in the Army, but in the end I didn't join the Army. A friend of mine said he was supposed to do the program with a friend, but he went to Basic first and when everybody was asked if they were a part of the buddy program he was to afraid to say something so it didn't work out for him. So the moral of the story is tell your recruier then one of you will probably go to basic first, but you or he NEEDS to tell the MTI's at basic.

i didn't fully understand that... so we can sign up in the buddy program together and have similar jobs on the same base...but they could ship one of us off to basic earlier than the other?

Yes, but in the end you should both end up at the same base.

As many have said before "There is no "I" in "Team".

But as a former Instructor/LPO/FDC for the Navy, I will add this codicil: There may be no "I" in Team, but there are a couple of YOU's ("U") in "FUCKED UP!"

One of my favorite sayings from back in the day....

Thats what it is designed for. If it still exists it should still be in effect the way I described. The point is to keep some people together through their AF career.
