Getting antsy for the weekend to install my 3" toytec lift and LR UCA's. Decided to ditch the steps and start the blackout process with my skid plate. Procomp 7089's and 285/75/16 BFG AT KO's in the mail.:D

Stopped by the dealer to grab a box of oil filters, gaskets and an air filter. Dealer sold be the oil filters for $65. Not to bad considering that's what it would cost purchasing from eBay with shipping to Canada.

Guess I know what else I'm doing today, painting that rear diff skid and getting it back on the truck before this weekends wheelin trip.

    Been relatively busy...

Completely polished then waxed the truck with my Porter Cable DA buffer. A week later, it still looks very deep and shiny, and the paint still feels slick and smooth everywhere.

Also primered, painted and cleared my front brake calipers in VHT real-red. If you want THE red color, you need to sought out VHT nearby or do what I did and order some from Amazon. The color itself is the correct, real-red color that is supposed to be on calipers. Also, I didn't experience any orange-peel with this paint, its very easy to work with provided you cleaned and sanded your calipers. They almost look as if they were dipped. I did all the work on-vehicle since I didn't feel like opening up the hydraulic system...

Likewise, I painted the rear drums black since these will probably be with the truck for a long time. I ended up removing them, sanding and cleaning them. I used the VHT primer, and some black dupli-color for brakes. Then I used VHT clear on top. The Duplicolor ended up showing a bit of orange peel, but it was a very hot and humid day. The clear on top helps to blend in, and since they are drums, I'm not worrying about it.

Did some long overdue maintenance on my truck. I don't think the air filter or spark plugs had ever been changed before!

-Replaced both CV axles and inner oil seals
    -New spark plugs
    -New engine air filter
    -Added a cabin air filter
-Cleaned the throttle body and MAF sensor
    -New rotors and brake pads
    -Oil change
    -Grease the drive shaft
-Change the diff and t-case fluids
-Replaced the transmission pan and did a full flush

I want to do all that to my truck, did you have someone else do it, or did you do it yourself? What was the total cost?

I purchased my 2012 Tacoma DC in beginning of June; since then, I have replaced the stock wheels with MB Wheels' Chaos 6, installed Westin Nerf Bars, a Westin Bull Bar, a Tailbed extender (Pain!), a pair of 6x9 Rockford Fosgate Punch speakers in the front, a pair of 6x5 of the same brand in the rear, and hacked the antenna in half. I also removed the mudflaps. I am still in the process of installing a Kicker amp, an 8" sub to put behind the rear seat, an LC6i lineout converter to keep my stock headunit (Nice!), and putting a 13" new antenna to replace the current one... I'm addicted!:D

I drove mine for the first time in 2 weeks today... been away on vacation and a wedding. Also bought some used 5100s for the rear and plan to install them today.

I cant wait for it to cool down so I can replace a seized bushing in the front and set my 5100s up to 2.5" from 1.8"

I did it all myself with the help of my father in law. We saved some serious $$$ doing all the labor ourselves. I would guess I spent roughly $500 in parts/supplies. The transmission pan and CV axles were the most expensive.

The hardest part was replacing the CV axles. I broke a store bought slide hammer and then we welded up one out of steel rod that got the first side out. The second side would not come out till we actually used a huge hammer and chisel to pound it out from the inside. Not an experience I wish to repeat, lol.

Overall it was a good experience that allowed me to learn more about my truck and I would do it again.

Wow. When I regeared we got the passenger side cv out really easily with just a hammer and a chisel. The driver side was a lot harder though because it was hard to get the chisel on it, but it came out after a few well placed hits.
