Tell me if this makes sense or if I'm way off base...
Setting 5100s at .85 or 1.75 or 2.5 preloads the springs and stiffens the ride. True?
Adding top plate spacers above the shock assemblies does not preload the springs or stiffen the ride. True?
So if you install ToyTec's and set 5100s at 1.75 with stock springs, wouldn't you get 2.5" of lift with a slightly softer ride compared to setting 5100s at 2.5 with no spacers?
All this lift geometry stuff makes me

You are corrct. Some companys like Pro Comp, offer a "split" type lift, giving half the lift via preload spacers, and the other half top plate spacers.

Another question: Will doing a split lift to get 2.5" of lift help with getting the alignment within spec as opposed to just setting the 5100s at 2.5?

Wouldn't a 1/4" top plate spacer and the bilsteins set at 1.75 get you 2.25 of lift? Has anyone done this? I know the truck doesn't handle that well with them set at 2.5 so is this a option for someone wanting a little more than 2 inches in the front?

    5100 @ 1.75 plus 1/4" toytec top plate = 2.25" lift. Perfect for me

also, stock UCAs and perfect alignment

rides great, nothing notable, only been beat on hard a handful of times thus far but handles great on and off road. its a great height if you ask me

Of note, 1.5" 3 leaf progressive AAL plus stock OL = roughly 2", just shy

Also wondering this myself... I just got some fox ext. 2.5s but don't wanna max em out at three. I just have a spacer leveling kit on top of the stock shocks right now but.... Could I use those in tandem with the fox shocks dialed lower? My thought process is that it wouldn't really be good with the off roading I do but I'm ready to try anything short of a drop bracket lift to get my 33s to stop rubbing :( I already trimmed the hell out of my fenders and did a cmc :crapstorm:

Looks to me like the access cabs rears are a little more raised than the double cabs so I wonder if the 1.5 AAL I was planning on getting will work out the same as yours.

I have Wheeler's progressive AAL plus the stock overload is around a 1/2" thick-ish

Keep in mind I like a truck to have some rake, as you can see. Your aal should be good, most people seem to be aiming more for level. I don't like level unless I'm loaded down
