Take I-70 West from Denver. Turn South at Georgetown to go up Guanella Pass. lots of places to cmp and hike along the way. You are likley to see Rocky Mountain BigHorn sheep or Rocky Mountain Goats, Bear or Moose depending on time of day, year, season etc. Anyway, follow the pass till it gets back to pavement and you are at Grants Colorado. Its a one stopsign town. There are a number of waterfalls off to the side of the pass so its always a good place to go exploring on foot if thats your thing. lost os side roads to explore in the 4x4 too.

Not too well. A woman I used to work with was let go from work yesterday. She had failed to check call routing on the day after the holiday and calls were routed incorrectly.

She did not get a severance package, and she had 15 years with the company, and I do not think she will be able to collect unemployment. She is 65 YO. The news made me pretty sad. In all honesty she has the same type lack of work follow through when I was there and caused me headaches when I managed her. She is a very nice lady and did not deserve this treatment. I am so glad I no longer work there.

I talked to her boss today to see how he was doing, he is a good friend. It was really hard for him to let her go.

:( that stinks. Don't wanna sound too harsh, but you'd think that in 15 years, she'd have learned what she was supposed to do  Do hope things work out for her, though.

    Nice!

Wow, that's a rough way to let a 15 year employee go..unless she'd been counseled previously.

    Beautiful sunset, though!

My son and I tried out the shooting bench tonight. He shot one of his Enfields and I shot my Mosin Nagant ex-sniper. I still need to level the bench and pour the support pads but it is a great bench.

One of the major surplus gun distributors imported 1000+ original WWII Mosin Nagant M91/30 sniper rifles. They went on sale this evening for a little more than $200 less than other distributors have been selling them for. I couldn't resist and dropped my order.

When I talked to her yesterday I told her to move all her 401K holdings into the least risk option available in the 401K account. This will protect her gains from a 500 point drop in the short term as she decides what to do with the account as she decides where to place the money long term.

I believe she will be retiring. And yes she has been counciled in the past but it still hurts when it happens. She sould have completed the required tasks of the on duty call routing engineer. No excuses for her at all.

You are right, Tom - it hurts no matter what the reason. I'm a firm believer that people, the vast majority of them, really just want to do a good job. They don't wake up and say "What can I screw up today."

Unfortunately, every decision we make - to do or not to do something - has implications and we need to recognize that some things we choose can have very negative results. So, before we act, we need to be willing and able to accept those outcomes.

    Have a great day, everyone!
