So the stripper are starting to school in Lake Murray...but I was out last night looking for catfish

Had herring a foot or so off the bottom in about 30 feet of water when my rod bends over double and line streaks across the water upstream in the channel (rod almost went in the water because i wasnt paying attention)

Set the hook and let the fish run...stripped out about half the line off my reel and we pulled anchor and started chasing it because i was on a smaller rod with 12lb test on it

An hour later I had made exactly zero progress getting the fish closer to the boat...and I tried hossing the fish around a little bit and stripped all the gears out of my reel...the reel just gave up...FUCK

That sounds like it would have been fun. It also would have pissed me off. I did that off a pier in St. Pete. I hooked something so big that it didnt budge an inch. I left it hooked with the line tight for 2 hours and it still didnt budge. I wish that I would have been able to see what was hooked up....
