I am planning on getting a newer TT soon. I currently have a small tent trailer that makes the rear end sag a little. If I'm going to step up the weight i thought I'd look into getting the rear end upgraded. I called my local Toyota stealership and was quoted $1800 for the tsb because its out of warrenty so I'm obviously not going that route. I've searched the forum but couldnt find any answers. Are there any cheaper alternatives to fix the rear end? I've got the firestone air bag systems on there way but understand that isn't the solution. Thanks in advance.

How about an AAL or new spring pack? 1/3rd of the cost from what the dealer quoted you and much much better than the tsb.

Wow, 1800 for crappy new springs? You could get a set of custom made Alcans for less than half of that.

I would say AAL, you might need new shocks out back as well depending on the lift you get from it.

I looked at the toytec 1.5 and 2" rear AAL. You have to forgive me if I'm asking stupid questions but will adding these make me have to add something in the front?

the 2" toytec AAL is for the non-tsb 3 leaf pack, the 1.5" AAL is for the tsb 4 leaf pack.

No you won't "have" to add something in the front, you will be tail high though. Some people don't like that.

If you do decided to get stuff up front then I would do it all at once so you don't have to have a second allignment and install fees may be cheaper if you are going to a shop.

Would something like the wheeler 1.5" progressives be a little better if I want to avoid messing with the front end? I'm not to keen on the idea of having to mess with the front for $$ reasons mostly. Its been an expensive month between the trailer, WD hitch and air bags.

I have a set of helwigs helper springs that I took off. I had to go to air bags for an slide-in camper. PM me if you like them.

No thanks. Ive got air bags coming. Think I'll go with an aal and go from there. Just got to call around to shops as the downside to owning a Toyota is you seldom develop much of a relationship with a mechanic. knocking on wood right now.
