I just bought a 08 Tacoma Access Cab 4 x 4. I already read the owners manual and did a forum search and could not get an answer for my question.

While driving it home tonight, I noticed the front drive control switch knob has no led illumination and I could not see it while driving. I did turn the knob to H4 and the four-wheel drive indicator light appears in the instrument cluster, but the knob itself has no illumination in the dark.

I also noticed the same problem with the power mirror switch, no led illumination. Is this normal or are my led lights not working for these knobs.

YEs it is normal and it is a silly oversight in my opinion. Anyway there is nothing wrong...

Thanks for your reply....i thought i might be missing something when i could not see that knob in the dark. At any regard, i still love this truck. The only thing i am trying to warm up to is the hood scoop which came with the sports package. Some folks love the hood scoop, but i am trying to warm up to it.

I know someone added a light to the 4wd switch I think in the Toyotanation forum mods section. I myself like the hood scoop. :D

Pop N Lock + Hose Clamp. DTRL, AFE drop-In Dry filter, 6-1/2" Replacement Speakers, JVC HD Radio, Sam's club variety Floor mats (cheap but effective), Chrome Exhaust tip, Bed Mat from ol' Ford Ranger. As of 3/25/2020, the Odometer just turned 70K.
I used to own 2002 Ford Ranger FX4 and belonged to Rangerpowersport.com site until I acquired my first ever Taco thanks to members from this forum, particularly the Mav man, aka, now jorseeee driver, ha ha !! Thanks Mav and I still owe you lunch and beer (I have not forgotten), so whenever you get a chance to swing over to Philly, don't forget to contact me for free lunch and beer!!

In any event, I did this MOD to my ol' Ranger with the LED and the intensity as well as clarity was phenomenal compared to the regular bulbs. Check it out !! Perhaps you can "adopt" this in lieu of the reg. bulbs, what da you think?

Guy has a REALLY GOOD write up on doing the LED Conversion and I followed it to the T on my ol' Ranger!!
