normally i'm not shocked by people's stupidity... but this guy literally made me do this-----

will this be your first firearm? how much experience do you have with guns? what's your objective in buying the gun? just for fun, home defense, hunting?

if you want to buy a handgun you need to pass the handgun safety certificate test or take a PC 832 firearms course to be granted an exemption from taking the test.

    seriously...my jaw dropped.

no no. i have a mossberg 12 gauge as well. i have a lot of experience with guns. from the 50 cal sniper to a little 22 pistol.

it is for home safety/fun. *edit* more for fun really.

i already know about the test i have to take, thats the easy part. and actually i have already taking a hunters safety course, like the one you are talking about. they taught us about all the guns and all the safety for all of them..so i might have already don't that if the same course i took qualifies me for it already. if not i can go take it down the street at the local gun shop.

right on dude. what it really comes down to is what you want... handgun, AR or another shotgun.

out of those 3 i'd get a handgun or another shotgun. if you have the Benjamines pick up a benelli M4.

IMO building an AR here in CA and keeping it legal is kind of a waste of money...

shotguns are dope...but i rather have something i can be accurate with, with one bullet, and not a spread shot ya know?

i know you can only hold 10 bullets for an ar/m4 right? kinda gay..but honestly who is gonna know i have a 30 round clip if I'm in the hills where lots of people bring crazy ak's and ar's. i could build the ar...and keep it "kinda" legal...right?

that benelli m4 shotgun is dope....but like i said no shotguns for me this time.*edit*

    It's not a clip...its a magazine.
    Sorry....OCD kicking in.

Based on what you said, you should get a pistol. They are stupid fun and much easier to transport and allowed in more ranges.

Pretty much anything with an M in front of a number is referring to a military issued weapon. M4 is basically the carbine version of the M16. The M4 and M16 both have selectable safe, single fire, and full auto.
No full auto allowed in CA. And AZ still has to abide by NFA rules. You still need to file for class 3 firearms, and you would be denied because of your residency.
The civilian version of the M4 is refereed to as an AR-15.

can i has semi auto then? then i guess the ar-15 is gonna be my choice, unless i find a hand gun instead.
all th gun store in sb don't even have any ar's. i have to go back home to even look at them in person.

not to be the immature kid who wants crazy guns but. i have to ask..i know there are ways to get those guns right and just not tell people you have them....nvm lol. its not even worth it. shooting ten bullets just sucks. how boring.

You'll have the 10 round restriction no matter what gun you buy. It's just if you have +10 with an ar-15, you've created, by California definition, an assault rifle.
Since you're young, there's no way you can get by with the "pre-ban" ownership of hi caps in pistols. There are ways around the high cap mags in California, but I'm not going to get into it here. Sign up and read at calguns.
