My wife kept complaining that the far right side AC vent was not blowing correctly and I thought she was just complaining. ;) Well a few days ago I guess she ended up looking inside the vent and sure enough there is a piece of foam blocking almost the entire vent. Blockage it probably 80% so its not like I can just reach in and grab it.

Most vehicles you can just pop the vent out but at least in the 2012 Tacoma the vent is sealed into the dash. Does any one know how to get the vent out of the dash? I really don't like other people working on my vehicles. I only have 1K on the truck so I know I can take it to the dealer but I want that as a last resort. Any help would be appreciated.

Take it to the dealer. If it anything like my wifes old Camry the dash has to come out to get to the screws behind the dash. Doable, but a PITA. With 1K on the clock I'd let the dealership deal with it.

Take it to dealer, that way if something goes wrong it won't be your fault and will be under warranty :D

I had the same thing happen on my 12 model driver side middle vent has foam stuck on the inside of the vent. I'm just going to say soothing at my first oil change.

I found another post with a similar issue, one person responded and said the foam was to stop the AC from making a whistling sound. The foam has sticky on the back an is supposed to be stuck to the inside tubing of the AC. I took a chopstick and pushed mine back down. Its a temporary fix but I did hear a whistling sound at one point so I guess I'm going to have to take it to the dealer.

Let me know how it goes at the Dealer.

A friend of mine heard a "pop" while sitting in the truck and then one of my vents didn't work right after that. I couldn't adjust it and it was about 80% restricted. Dealership pulled a piece of foam out and now it's fine. No charge.
