    Hey guys,

I know there are already a lot of posts about this but..... I am looking at a 3" Toytec lift and i was wondering if i needed new shocks for the rear. Im not worried about the front because the front lift comes from spacers. The rear is a AAL and i had seen some posts where people were worried about overextending the shocks.

Here is a link for the kit:

    Any help is much appreciated!!

X2. Dont go with a spacer lift. If you have to save your money and get a better lift then do that, trust me, it will save you in the long run.

Thanks. Im looking cheap so i guess $200-$400. I dont need anything crazy, just something for bigger tires. I could use my stock coilovers if i decided to go with the 5100s and AAL, right?

    I like this lift: http://www.tacomaworld.com/out.php?url=http%3A%2F%2Fwww.toyteclifts.com%2Findex.php%3Fpage%3Dshop.product_details%26flypage%3Dflypage.tpl%26product_id%3D58643%26category_id%3D113%26option%3Dcom_virtuemart%26Itemid%3D72

I think i will get the extended shocks by the way. Id rather get them so i wont have to run the risk of overextending them.

I went this route, and cant be happier: RCD Height Adjustable 5100s From Down south Motorsports: $299

    Total: $568.97
I know its slightly higher then what you wanted, but it will be done right!

I have the 5100s set to .85 in the front, so with the coils I get roughly 2-2.5 of lift. The TSB was free from the dealership, but with both the TSB and AAL, I do have rake.

Very nice. I looked at your build page and i liked your truck. My problem is $$$!!

I looked on the toytec website again this looks pretty close to what you have minus the 5100s:

The 5100s are what make all the difference tho. You would probably be alright with that lift, but I'm not and expert. When I was doing mine, tons of people on here helped me with info.
What size rims/Tires are you going to run? 285s will need around 2.5 of lift if I remember right, plus the right backspacing for the rims.

Yeah. Im plannin on keeping my sport rims, and putting 285/75 BFG all terrains on them. I bet the ride quality will be way better with the 5100s but i dont know how rough it would be without them. I wouldnt mind if it was just a little rough.

    I might go this route:
5100s all around with stock coils and do a AAL in the back.

Does that sound like a good setup?

cshade- I bet their wont be that much difference in the 1st and 2nd gen. ride if its the same lift. How rough is the ride?

You wont fit 285s with the 17 sport rims without wheel spacers. you will rub like crazy. Take a search around for more info, but from what i have seen on here and talked with people, you need some spacers on the stockers for 285s

Yeah i wouldnt mind it being rough as long as it doesnt jar my teeth out on every bump. ill probably go with the 275s and trim a little if the 285s will rub too much. What did yall think about that suspension setup?

"5100s all around with stock coils and do a AAL in the back"?

You could set the 5100s at 2.5 and get a diecent lift outta it. I saw you were talking about 285/75/17s, another FYI. The biggest tire you can run with a 3" lift including trimming is 285/70/17. So I think you will need to get a 275/70/17 tire if thats the route you want to go.
