I noticed what appears to be small rubber washer/pad in between them. Is this something new?

2012 TRD sport, has 4 leafs, with tow package. When getting new tires and they looked it up, they said " 4 leaf spring pack, it's a heavy duty version". That's what it actually said in their computer.

Beavis can you post a side shot photo of the truck while loaded and measure your bump stop clearance?

Are you actually riding on the bump stops, over loading the truck or what?

I have heard several times now about the spring rate change would like to clarify thanks!

Have them put it in writing because you cant get more capacity with an AAL. Payload is 1240 I believe (DCSB OR). I am working on typing up some stuff so I can take toyota to small claims as I have been getting the run around and cant do stuff with my truck without worrying if I have over 500 lbs back there.

My 12 Access Cab Offroad with tow package has 3. My theory is it's geographically determined when the dealer orders the trucks. If you buy from a dealer that sells in an urban area, they equip to that demographics needs. i.e. driving to the mall. There has to be a method to their madness and this is all I can figure. I could in fact be wrong. I put a 500lb load in it and was bottoming plenty!

Rear end sags a LOT with a medium-weight load in the bed, but I'll be upgrading to OME Dakar leaf packs soon.

Sure if you have the time,

your definition of sagging and mine could be quite different. With over 900lbs of payload (500+) in the bed I had maybe 1-2 inches of rear squat at what 80% of load capacity I consider this acceptable not even close to the bump stops.

Honestly with so much dis info on this site I would honestly like to clarify if what toyota told you is true or as you stated bullshit.

    .
My last 2 Tacomas (2009 & 2011) had the "Rear Spring TSB" (3 to 4 springs) and they were so much better afterwards too.

My 2012 DC-SB, 4x4, TRD, OR with tow package only has 3 springs and I wondering when the TSB on these 2012s will start ...

PS ... I would guess that all Canadian Tacomas still come from the factory with the 4 pack rear spring standard.

EDIT ... (From the survey results) ... It's hard to understand that so many 2012s Tacomas (non-Canadian trucks) are coming from the factory with the "Rear 4 Spring Package" and don't need the TSB ... .... How did Toyota decide which trucks to put the TSB on as an OEM item from the factory ...

i think we pretty much figured out that the Off Road package tacos are the ones cruising around on 3 leafs springs. someone made the good point of how that would make for a smoother ride off road....and the super crappy payload reduction.
