Nice! Congrats on the quarter-mil dude! I have had 2 toyotas go over 250k in my life. My 85 mr2 had 260k on it when I got rid of it. My 90 corolla GTS had 276k on it when I sold it for $2500 about 6 months ago. Never did any maintenance on either car other that tune ups and oil changes and timing belts. That 4AGE is bulletproof. My 2011 Tacoma only has 7000 miles on it but I have a supercharged 88 mr2 for my DD. Gotta love Toyota for the quality, reliability and resale value!

At 290,515 miles the interior is generally in great shape. No holes. The drivers seat cushion bottom is a bit compressed and I have been thinking of putting in a new cushion.

Wow...In know this thread is older but I have to say it is full of great info for people like me who are very new to working on their own vehicle.

From someone who has been able to keep their truck in such good shape for so many miles, do you have any advice to newbies like me so I can keep mine in such great shape?! Do you do everything yourself (maintenance wise)?

I passed 78,000 on my 08 a few days ago. You are my hero! I can't wait to see my truck go on to have that many miles on her.

The speedo pic? I shot it with a Canon 7D, 1/40 sec, f/5.6, ISO 800.

I wonder if you would have hit 290K if you had run a syn-blend or just a conventional motor oil?

I just purchased my 1stacoma and stories like that are the reason why.

I don't know. What I do know is the engine runs like new, does not use oil.

I change the oil every 8-10k miles. Sometimes every 12k miles. I use Mobil 1 m1-209 oversize filters for these extended runs between changes. If I use Toyota OEM filters I change them halfway between changes at about 5k miles.
