No luck. Shop gave up because they couldn't get the hard/soft lines to separate and didn't want to cut/re-flare because they weren't sure the fitting could handle the pressure from the hydraulic brake booster. Bracket bending is the next plan of attack.

Sounds like totally screwed to me

I personally only know 2 techs that are good and they do engine and tranny swaps all day every day for Toyota. Sadly the meat heads get the left overs like brake jobs. Some of the stories they tell are priceless.

Everyone that's touched mine at this point (Booger and I, two shops) have been scared to force the soft and hard lines apart because we've had to put so much grunt into it we're worried about damaging the threads on the fitting.

A splice may or may not hold up to the hydraulic brake booster's pressure. I dunno. I'd rather not fined out.

Gonna see if I can get the length I need with some hard line and bracket modification.

No problems so far. Brake flush is hooking up two hoses and turning a machine on. As long as they don't hook one hose up to the tranny fluid return line and the other to the positive battery terminal, should be good. (But I wouldn't be surprised if they managed that).

weird. the worse part to me was messing with the bracket up on top of the frame and between the bed. that was a bitch to mess with and we messed with that so we could get the shit screwed back on. everything seperated fine on mine tho.

They go cross eyed if you even mention the word "aftermarket".

I haven't eliminated that possibility though. If bracket modification doesn't do it, that's the next step.

Toyota overtorqued the flare nuts on the rear lines. This is a fairly common problem on these trucks; seems to be more prevalent with the 09+ offroads, maybe has something to do with all the traction control systems.

Then you need to find another dealer. There isn't one around you that sells tacos already lifted?

Probably down in Durham and Raleigh. I'll go to that extreme if I have to. I'm hoping other options work out.

Is you problem the top where the hard lines connect to the bed, the bottom where they connect to the axle, or both?

    Has anyone tried heat?

So far axle. I didn't get around to the toppers.

Not sure about heat - I was at work when the shops gave it their go.

It may work. I just continued to unscrew the damn bolt then when I got tired of that, I grabbed the bolt with vice grips then hit the vice grips with a hammer. It eventually worked.

I pm'd a certain mod to see if he would comment who I have seen in person remove a set that were a total bitch. Needed tons of heat and he had to re-flair the lines.

Yeah. I might have to break down and re-flare, and if it's not too expensive I'll replace the hard lines rather than have an additional flare fitting.

We'll see what happens. The saga continues.

Some stuff. Not a lot, just some.
    I used one of each.

I think they were heated before I got there but for the record, I've personally never had to use heat.

I think I had to reflare because they wouldn't seal against the AM lines.

Yeah, but that's different. Dealers often get pissy when you show up with aftermarket parts asking for them to be put in.

I'll look into it if I need to.

I was just putting it out there. The other dealers I went to (a little further south) were being dicks.
