    Just remember that knowledge of the law will make a great defense when you go to court; but it will not get you out of a ticket normally. You will have a hard time getting away from court costs now days.

    Both of the troopers went back to their car, made a cell phone call, came back to me and told me to slow down. No ticket. Just because I'm a civie doesn't mean I'm an idiot; the same as just because you're a cop doesn't mean your a fat middle-aged white guy that dreams of donuts. :cool:

    Last time I checked the Texas St Helmet Law was that I do not have to wear a helmet if I have been to the motorcycle safety course (and have proof on my person like I do) and have a minimum of $10k life insurance. They used to also require a sticker that was only good for 3 years to be displayed on your motorcycle but that is no longer a state program. It was supposed to be a "I'm good to go with no helmet" sticker but too many cops/troopers had no clue what it was.

    So in this license plate situation you - as an officer - would issue the ticket where the courts would not know what to do with it as a legal punishment.

    It isn't a big deal. It was a long arm displayed in plain sight - not a ticket offense in Texas; I'm not sure about LA.

    It's a rumor about the no punishment for the LP. I just read it out of the book. " An offense under this section is a misdemeanor punishable by a fine not to exceed $200." But, if you put your plate on like it's supposed to be, before court, and show the court that you fixed it, they can dismiss it. And you'll probabley have to pay an administrative fee, not to exceed $10.

    Again... stop saying stupid shit. You can own a fully automatic firearm - they are called Class 3s. You have to fill out the paper work, submit it to the ATF, and get your "stamp". Then you can own a fully auto smile maker.

    Pretty close. You don't have to have the safety course and the insurance, just either or. And you have to be 21 yoa or older. We knew about the sticker, it was just too small to see while driving down the road.
