It was the same with my wife. She didn't like the magnaflow on my 03 but the AT2525XL on my 09 she actually said it sounded good. Now to convince her that I need headers haha!

this is the route you ended up going as well right? meaning throwing on a resonator after the muffler was installed.

so does the resonator change the sound at all or just quite it down a bit and refine to loose some of the rasp?

also while we are on the subject what the hell is a resonator lol

No, but I can sell you a 3030XL for cheap if you wanna pay shipping. Wife bought my exhaust for christmas and got the wrong size. Has issues with returning it and ended up just keeping it cause the guy we bought it from on ebay was a douche. Just looking to recoup some money.

Yeah, the nostalgia of being super loud and raspy wore off after about 6 months and I decided to weld in a resonator. The resonator itself is a muffler whose primary purpose is to cancel out sound. The shell and materials inside are tuned to cancel out sounds of a certain frequency. In an automobiles case, the frequencies that they are intended to cut out are the raspy ones.

I mean yeah, my truck is a little bit quieter, but not by a whole hell of a lot. The sound is quite a bit smoother and still has every bit of that low end burble I have come to love from the AT.

I don't remember the brand. I just went to a muffler shop and told them I wanted an 18" resonator. Very plain box. I'm going to assume that it is either a Vibrant or a Walker brand resonator though, as they don't put any markings on their stuff. I went 18" and installed it backwards though. The resonator will have an effective life much longer that way, but it doesn't do quite as well at muffling sound as the exhaust doesn't travel directly into the louvers. The choice is all yours, though I would recommend somewhere in the 12-15" range if you plan to install it forward.

I love the XL version, since it has the resonator inside. If I didn't already have one, i would scoop it up from you.

It's all good man. Guess the price dropped over the last couple months. Might just save it for when I get a S/C :p

No worries at all, I'm just glad I dont have a garage yet, or else the amount of random parts I would be saving for later, would be staggering.

alright got the aero turbine on and it sounds surprisingly good. also almost exactly like my old flowmaster 40 series just refined a little louder when i step on it also there is no drone like the old flowmaster.

so in conclusion this muffler sounds great thanks for the help guys :)
