    6000lbs is asking alot for our trucks. I sell cargo, utility, and equipment trailers. ive installed hitches, wired up brake controllers, and fixed trailers. Unless you get a brake controller installed i would stay away from anything more than 5000lbs. And even 5k is alot for our little trucks. It could be enough to push you off the road

    The 2nd gen tacoma with the tow package is max rated for 6500lbs to give you an idea. And they have 4.0L and trans cooler.

    EDIT: 1st gen tacomas with hitch installed are rated at 5000lbs

    Also Ben, U-haul will only let you rent a trailer that's compatible with the tow rating of your truck.

    If you dont have a brake controller they wont rent you a tandem axle trailer or any trailer with electric brakes. We also rent trailers.

    So i got my Firestik(its HUGE to say the least) and all my mounts...however..how do i get the cable to attach to it?? It has PL-259 connectors on both ends..and none of the other stuff does..other then the radio..

    Ian beat me to it. I was going to say, I'm not sure what the 1st gens are rated, but I imagined it was quite a bit lower than the 1st gens due to the size difference and the 2nd gens are rated at 6500 lbs.

    and brake cooler? haha. You need some sleep Monte:p You've been looking at too many wires and plugs in your Taco:D

    Do any of you guys know what it is that is mounted on the cab roof of this Tacoma? I thought at first that it was a solar panel but it looks like it says Verizon on the front edge. :notsure:

    BTW, this is one of the few 1st gens that I think looks good with the ARB.

    If your doing just a basic 4 flat for tail lights and signals its an easy job. Just buy the coverter that goes inside your tail light and splice the wires into your tail light wires. Basically just match wire colors.
    Just maker sure you get the right converter

    If your doing an electric brake wiring job its alot more work and expensive.
