Man that's a lot for a 2 year old truck! Not that that's a bad thing. Makes me really glad that I passed up on the gap insurance the finance guy tried to sell me. He tried to convince me it would lose 25% of its value as I drove off the lot. I was like "have you looked on the market for a used Tacoma?" Obviously not true. Good to see how well they hold value!!

Eew, old man tan? I take it all back.

Kidding, of course. It's good to see a new owner so psyched about a new Taco! They're great trucks.

according to the nada, it was supposed to be 31k. i thought i did well. the guy scared me into getting gap insurance but not because of it losing value but because my insurance "may not cover the entire loan amount if i were to get into a wreck."

Wouldn't make a difference and wouldn't draw air as there is a positive vacuum or no vacuum at all on that area of the hood.

You did fine for buying from a dealer. At the end of the day it's worth a little extra to get the truck you really want, especially when it comes along on the used market. for the record, I talked my guy down to $28,250 before trade on my '10 new in '10, but it's just a loaded SR5. No TRD package.

Well the reason why it may not pay off the loan is that insurance companies pay fair market value for the vehicle. So if you pay 28k and once off the lot it loses 7k of value, the insurance will pay 21k if its totaled. But if the market value doesn't decline, you loan will be covered.
Plus for gap insurance to be useful, the vehicle would have to be totaled. Anything less than that they would cover the repairs.

I think the gap insurance was not a terrible decision in your case since you overpaid a little. if you totaled it tomorrow, they probably wouldn't assess it for the price you paid.

Yes, it's been done with folded aluminum sheets. Air enters the scoop, makes a sharp turn toward the passenger side, then down into the stock airbox...

Sounds like a terrible waste of time. There's a reason cars like Vipers, Camaros and Corvettes place ram air way up near the front of the hood.

And why Subaru air scoops (nearer the center of the hood) are massively tall for that matter.

Have you seen the air duct inside the hood on Mazda Millenias and Mazdaspeed6s? Air going into the grille doesn't reach the radiator. Instead, plastic dams divert air into an opening on the underside of the hood. The air then runs through the hood and exits onto the intercooler sitting on top of the intake manifold.
