Good morning Tacoma World, Happy Friday!

So I'm at the office right now, trying to plan a Vegas trip for the weekend of August 3rd. I'm probably going to be staying at either Hard Rock or the Palms.

Anyways, back to the topic! This trip is going to be my father and I. My parents have a 2011 Prius, all stock w/ no tints. A literal fish bowl. If my calculations are correct ($3.55/gallon) It would be around $40 to drive the 584 miles (round trip). I want to drive my truck though. Im assuming I would average about 22mpg on the freeway, so gas would be around $120 round trip. What do you guys think? Would it be worth it to take the Taco, or just drive the little Prius and use that extra $80 elsewhere?

gas in vegas is only like 3.40. but if it was me I would drive the Prius, cuz you could use that 80 bucks in vegas on something good. If I was going with my dad I would want to save the most amount of money for the actual fun stuff in vegas. Plus my truck is so high that I wouldn't be able to park it in the parking garage anyways.

The Prius is the car for the job. It was made to do exactly what you are planning to do. No reason to take your truck unless you have a ton of bags/bear, or plan on hitting the dirt.

Take your folks Prius. Yes, everybody will laugh (jk, kinda), but your folks will be paying for their gas instead of you paying for gas for your Taco, leaving more dough for craps (6 and 8s all day) Plus, on the way back when you are hung over as shit, it will be easier that your dad can drive.

Also, the ride will be better in the car.

Thanks guys. I guess I will probably end up driving the Prius, Lol. I notice you're in Simi, my office is right off Tapo St. on Valley Fair. Literally across from Skatelab, Lol!

You guys are all forgetting a very important point. If I-15 has one of it's regular 3 hour traffic jams, you can take powerline road in the tacoma....you can't in the Prius.
Hell I can knock almost an hour off the drive hauling ass down powerline without traffic on I-15.
    Food for thought ;)

It's parallel to 15 about a mile off. Runs from barstow to stateline to vegas.

FWIW...you gotta be doing triple digits to shave that much time. And a LT rig is the only way that's gonna happen.
If there's a traffic jam though, there's no telling how much time you can save.

Tacoma is stock and staying that way, Pickup is TBA as of now.
I'd take the Prius. As much as I like driving my truck, if someone else offers to take his/her car, I don't hesitate. Rack miles up on their odometer, not mine!

Beside, depends how much lead you have in you-re foot, chances are you won't make 22 miles per gallon.
