When we built this truck, we were under a time frame to get it ready for the Off Road Expo, so we didn't paint it correctly. It developed sme rust an needed to be repainted.

We took everything apart in the rear area and started stripping the old paint.

Then this is what it looks like now all painted. We used a flat satin type paint. I think it looks better than the semi gloss I had before.

There is quite a bit going on back there. Not only is the regular rear tube work back there but I also have the frame work on for the rear fenders.

Next, we're going to take the rear springs off and redo those and clean and paint the rear axle. After that we move to the front to redo the front shock towers and clean and paint the front axle, frame, links and supports, and to creat a hybrid front bumper for it and add a winch.

It's going to be a hybrid of our FJ cruiser plate bumper and tube bumper I think. We'll see when we start building it.

Last night I got my son to help me with the rear axle stuff. It's good to have a little helper around the house.:D

He likes power tools. Now I just need to fatten him up a bit so he can help me get those tires OFF the truck:eek:

Not afraid to jump right in... now my wife left when he went under the truck and the only thing she said was "he better come in when you come in". She never worried about me under the truck. Whats with that?

Now the springs are ready to come off so I can clean them and repaint them and the rear axle too.

After this stuff is done, it's off to the front half of the truck. Thats gonna be more involved because I'm cutting off the shock towers and making new ones, redoing the front bumper, changing the link ends, and repainting everything. Whewwwww

Wyatt, it was great meeting you when I was out in the SoCal area last month. To bad I didn;t have enough time to take you up on your offer to take The Beast for a drive, maybe next time. Let me know when you are planning on coming out my way, I'll set something up. There are some very cool places to wheel in the Ozarks, take care buddy.
