Has anyone tinted their own tail lights? I pulled out the housing today, and it's pretty well put together. Any advice on how i should separate the lens from the housing? ThanKS.

Most people tint the outside. I took mine apart to do the btlm and it's a lot of work. You don't need to cut them apart if all you want to do is tint the outer lens. You just need to buy niteshades and spray.

And then get pissed that it looks like shit and buy a new set.

I've seen some awesome taillight tint jobs, and very few came from a can.
Most were done by a pro painter doing a mix of clear and black, and going through the whole process like they would a car including the sanding prep and final clearcoats, rubbing, polishing, and buffing.

It was a lot easier than I thought it would be. Time consuming and a little sketchy to just chop up stock taillights. It wasn't too bad and I'm glad I did it. Like I said, I'll take some pics tomorrow. If you have any more questions don't be afraid to pm me. It wasn't as bad as I thought it would be.

Nightshades is a spray on the outside. Btlm(black tail light mod) is taking the lens off the light and painting the chrome on the inside.

as a Firefighter, I hate to see things like this...sure it looks nice, but why would you want to make yourself more vulnerable to get in an accident? If you do get rear-ended it'll most likely be your fault for having improper equipment.

I can't speak for other states, but my tail lights are 100% legal in Arkansas. You can very easily see the difference between the tail lights and the brake lights at 500 feet.

You don't have too. Just remove the tail light and spray the lens with the nightshades.

    Yes and no.

AR cops aren't likely to cite you for it, but it is a violation of Federal law under FMVSS 218.
