You have 2.5x8s in the stock coil bucket right now? You sure? OEM Replacements are just about 6".
If so then yeah those are the LT size with the stock coil bucket but you cant use your UCAs, they're too short.

Ya..well pretty damn sure about the coil overs. Thats what the limit strap are for. For 10'' shocks you have to change some things.

But im pretty sure you just need an new LCA, axle and limit straps and you'd be there. I mean most LT guys start with 2.5x8 shocks. The real dudes run 10s tho.

But don't quote me on that..you might need a new longer UCA too..

    well there ya go.

So then you would need new UCAs and LCAs..axles and then limit strap. But you can keep you lovely coil overs :)

Wheelbase is front to back, not width. Also you can retain 4wd with LT and if you got rims with more backspacing you could get it to be less than 2" wider on each side.

No you cant, the OEM coilovers are different than LT coilovers. Krish was right that OEM's are more like 6" and usually LT ones are 8". You cannot fit an 8" shock in the coil bucket with stock length lowers.

yeah he seemed pretty certain that he had 8s so I went with it haha but if they are OEM replacements(just like your UCAs) they both won't work, too short for LT.
OEM replacement coilovers = just about 6s
LT with stock coil buckets(all bolt on) = 8s
    LT with a custom engine cage/shock mounts =10 or 12s like RJ(10s) and Vi(12s)

Probably gonna be a year before I get back to this project. The lower arm is finished just need to design the upper and tweak a few things I'm sure. I'm currently working 7am to 6pm m-f at a hospital in Portland so won't have much time to play with this. I've got 3 weeks off in September so maybe then.

I was assuming he had 8s. Which is what mid travel is supposed to have to be true mid travel anyways so i figured he did.

    :pout:

    darn haha

Don't make me shell out for a Camburg kit!

No, mid travel is OEM replacements, 8s is long travel. There's no way anyone could fit 8s with the stock coil bucket and LCAs. I mean theoretically you could if you could compress it that much but you would have no up travel and you would have to strap it. 8s would be useless without LT, nobody does that.

There would be virtually no up travel with a setup like that. Most people who have mid-travel have OEM Replacements or a modified generic 6" C/O with a specific top plate for the vehicle.

How would there be no up travel? with new UCAs wouldn't you be fine?

No, because there is very limitied uptravel on a stock setup & with an 8" C/O the compressed length would be 2" longer (approximately) then a reg. replacement C/O limiting the uptravel by 2"

UCA aren't usually for travel they are typically to correct wheel alignment which is asqued by lifts.

An Extended travel C/O is not a 8" C/O it's really a 6" Coilover. That falls under the category of OEM replacement C/O's
