and this was his PM to me when asked who makes the baja wheels...

"As I told the other guy, I am not at liberty to give that kind of information. I can say it is a major European company. Sorry I cannot give specifics, only that the information is correct."

Is this the part when the thread starts heading into a downward shitstorm spiral?

That is some crazy info there. Better make sure you have security clearance for that, sleep one eye open tonight.

All his posts evolve around baja (best one ever) and not much else and the post gets locked due to situations as such. Also a post about dirt bikes.

Like everyone else we are proud of what we bought but call a spade a spade.

I would like to know what toyota changed in the front diff on the baja models if anything to clear up the groan most get after lifting any amount due to the sloppy tolerances.

Now that is an interesting question. I know ECGS has a solution (and I have it installed), but they're the only one I'm aware of.

Just tint and ppl for now.
You don't have to max out a credit card to by a cheaper SR5 model and lock it for about the same the OR model would have cost. Yes, OBA is sweet. Very handy when there isn't air available. Perks of the ARB. :D

I am guessing it will be awhile till someone tears into a front diff to verify the bore and tolerances the shaft holds on a baja model.

Maybe I will dig around to see if all the part numbers stayed the same regarding the diff bearing and shaft.

that is true! haha but i didnt have the 25k in my bank account to write a check for my truck used :pout: and i didnt put anything down, so i didnt really save any money iin pocket, but to put a locker on an sr5 wouldve cost me money out of pocket... pickin up what im putting down?

any my truck is my DD so if i break it, and its not covered under warranty i dont want to pay for it to get fixed as my mechanical skills just about cease at the locker anytime mod... just sayin' lol. i do envy you guys who can do anything with trucks, and HAVE considered getting my auto tech for numerous reasons..

I bought a baja and spent a little over an extra 3,000 on it over the trd off road package. I figure i would spend that money alone on a good lift/leveling kit and wheels and tires plus the TRD exhaust. I don't know how much i would save buy doing it my self. plus its covered under warranty for the next eight years.

OK, you guys have me confused as hell. Ha. Since we have already managed to wonder off topic from the Baja to the OR package in general compared to the SR5 on it's own plus some add-ons. Can someone answer the questions you have formed for me since the start of reading this thread:

    1. If I am planning on mild off-roading, driving in snow and the occasional trail-ride/beach ride . . . . will I have an issue with the standard TRD locker.

    2. Everyone keeps saying it's cheaper to get the SR5 and install a locker. What about the upgraded shocks in the TRD OR package as well I know it's not a lift. . . but comparing the two as stock entities, aren't the ORs bilstien's way better?

    3. The beadlocks may not be real and they may in fact be just for looks . . . . (referencing the TX beadlocks, obviously) but is there actually issues with them? I haven't seen anything on this anywhere else.

Finally. I agree overall with the Baja package being overpriced. For the record, if you go onto Toyota's website and read the Baja press release, those trucks should only be 333-35 OTD once you wheel and deal the price. . . . . but call any toyota dealership and ask, and they'll tell you you HAVE to get the damn nav and entune and other BS upgrades and that the Baja package can't be bought on it's own. So, when you attack that Baja package as ten grand, know that's Toyota forcing you to buy all the other shit they have built into it from other packages. The Baja package on it's own, while still pricey, is only half the upgrades that upgrades the pricetag to 39. But I know that you can get that Baja for like 35-36 out the door. The dealer's who HAVE the Baja's want to move the Baja's, because they aren't being well received and they aren't making anymore of them and no dealer wants a vehicle sitting on thier lot more than 45 days max.

For the Record, if you don't believe me on the Baja price I was saying, just in supporting information, in case that is stupid low (which I thought it was) the dealership I got that from over the phone was Checkered Flag Toyota in Virginia Beach. They still have two on the lot as of yesterday and they WANT them gone. They did at one point have 6 though, so they are doing pretty good at moving them.

    1. The rear locker is used for getting you unstuck in case your stuck. Once your unstuck, its supposed to be turned off. Unless I missed something, I don't think rear-locker is meant to be driven around engaged for an extended period of time.

    2. The Bilsteins are Bilsteins, meaning they are very high quality shocks and better support off-road conditions at the factory ride height for an TRD OR. That said, when you consider how many people here who already have a TRD OR are gutting their shocks and springs for better shocks and the 3" lift, then it sort of is a waste of money to get a TRD OR. However I don't believe A-TRAC or the hill assist systems/functions are included with an SR5, which is also built into some of the TRD OR package cost...some are going to argue that you don't need either of these if you have upgraded shocks/springs and upgraded tires in the offroad environment. The other side is, weekly, there usually is someone selling their low mileage TRD OR Bilstein shocks/springs here for roughly $150 or so..which isn't a bad deal at all.
