Paid mine off in 2001. 207,000 miles. Cheaper to drive than our '06 Sequoia!

Talked to my financial advisor yesterday and he advised don't pay off the remaining $18k in lump. The reason was because it's financed through our home equity loan which is at 3.99%. I'd have to pay it off in lump by selling stock that currently pays a 7.1% dividend. So it's better to keep the stock and get the dividend checks which pays for the interest plus some.

Sure was nice to get $6500 for my '97 Gen I to help pay for the new truck. Amazing resale value. Cost $15,600 new in '97 and I paid cash for it so no finance costs. That's 42% of original cost for a 15 yr old truck. Amazing.

For comparison, the 2000 Lexus GS300 sold for $9500 one week before the Gen I, orig cost was $40k. That's 24% return for a 12 yr old Lexus with only 83k miles on it in pristine condition.

I paid for mine in full, used 4x4 double cab, 110k miles. 16k cash. The reason why I saved up? I bought a 2000 toyota celica gts in 2000 brand new from the lot, at that time there was only a few out and they were way over priced. I paid 27k for it and it was a 6 year loan, and with interest I paid 34 or 35k for that car, and when I was done the car was only work 10k. I vowed to myself I will never finance another car in my life.

Go private, don't trade it in for a new one. If it's clean somebody will come along eventually that wants that truck. Might take a couple of months, but it will sell for more than tradein value

True. Although,I don't expect doing it in the near future. I kind of like not having a payment and being able to purchase recreational items. Hell, I've had the truck for 7 years, and I just now out a nice stereo in it. I'm just now looking at a tool box... Other than the airbags, side steps, and Bilsteins, I've done nothing else with it.

Well, its not my truck, its my dads. I'm just on TW for info, mods, and etc...

Crazy thing is,the dealer let them drive off the lot without a down payment last Tuesday. Not even a single penny.

I wish the would pay for my stuff like that :anonymous:

Looks like you've got a pretty nice Celica though. I've always loved that final generation, so good looking and fun to drive. The tC wheels are a nice touch as well.

Went halves with my parents. I paid 8.5k straight up, they are paying monthly payments that end next year. I am a college student who commutes in Maine all seasons and need to get to my nursing clinical/class. Only a Tacoma guarantee's my arrival during the brutal winters of Maine :)
