    Hi all,

I am looking to buy a '12 Tacoma and found one at a dealer. Specs as follow:

TRD Sport DC long bed, 4x4.
Upgrade sport package with chrome wheels , NAV /Entunte
    Tow package
    Mileage : 4500
    MSRP : 35,500
    Asking price : 33,500 + TL ( firm)

What do you guys think is a fair price for this truck?
    Thanks.

Just to give you a base line I bought my truck in April of this year. DCLB sport 4x4 entune navigation v6 50 miles on the truck for 32,800 + TL. Your truck sounds about the same as my truck. Mine now has 4300 miles on it. Just my opinion I would expect at least 1500 dollars off for who ever used it for several months. You know that person had tO take a loss for what ever reason they turned it back in. You also have to realize that if you ever go to sell it, it will already be a second owner truck which will lower the resell value. I wouldn't pay a penny more then 31,300. Hope this helps.

    Way too much -
4,500 miles is used - not new and 1/5th of the way through the warranty.
INVOICE - which is where you should start is :

    Base: (7956) 4 door double cab v6 automatic 4x4 / long bed INV=$26,019 / MSRP=$28,085
Option PT (TRD Sport Upgrade w/CHROME rims) INV=$3,777 / MSRP=$3,975
    Option EJ (Entune) INV=$1,718 / MSRP=$1,930
Option TO (Tow Pkg) INV=$579/MSRP $650
    Delivery = $810 - no discounts here.

MSRP = $35,540 (I am off from your # by $10) if new
    Invoice = $32,903 <<---if BRAND NEW from dealer with < 100 miles

So they want MORE than invoice for a used truck.:eek::eek:

No Freaking Way... a great deal FOR THEM.

so if you go to overstock.com you can get the exact same truck brand new for $33,045! i would print out the overstock estimate or, better yet, send it to the dealer (you do this by searching for your vehicle then following the prompts and overstock will automatically email dealers and your supposed to be guaranteed that price). you could then leverage the price on your used truck down another two grand at least. i would offer $31,000.

    Hello all,

    Thanks for the advices.

The dealer also has a brand new 2012 SR5 DCLB, lifted with 3" Procomp shocks and wheels and nice tires (can't remember the brand), with step bars and black out grill,
asking price 39.9k. What would be a fair price for this truck?

Also, comparing with the '12 TRD DCLB with upgrade sport package, NAV/Entune and 4500 miles, which truck do you guys think is a better buy?

    Thanks again.

Hard to tell since a lot of those 'options' are dealer/port installed and I don't have any invoice/msrp pricing to give you

    HOWEVER -
If you look @ my post above the difference between MSRP and Invoice was 7.5%

If you assume that MSRP of the customized truck is $39,900
    39,900 * .0925 = 36,939 invoice (I'm guessing here).

honestly if you are already at $40K for a TACOMA - are you sure that a TUNDRA or F-150 might not be a better choice? For that type of $ you might be able to get leather and SYNC/NAV.

You also need to ask yourself what you want. It seems like there is a big difference between these 2 vehicles and you are undecided.

Personally I would make a list of pros and cons for each model and make an educated and well thought out decision on which vehicle to pursue. Once you decide which truck you want then you can focus on getting the best price.

    Hope this helps.

Go with the used one if you can get it for 31,500 or less.

Honestly lift the truck yourself, or at least get the parts yourself and then get the dealer to do the install. Save yourself some more money...

If I buy the TRD sport I will put on new wheels and tires, and side steps. I also want to lift it but not sure if I can keep the TRD suspension. If I have to buy new shocks, then I guess it is a waste to buy the TRD system.

For all that I would probably have to spend at least another 2-3 k for all the mods. I thought why not buy the SR5 and save time and headache even though it may cost more, but I would have the dealer's warranty for lhe mods.

I also prefer tacoma over bigger trucks since they are not practical.

Hopefully I can work out a deal with a dealer since 40 k is over my budget.

Bilsteins and an add-a leaf. Give you a respectable lift for 600 bucks
Remember, on resale you are selling your TRD sport. So it isn't just about
what it has, it is about resale value too. A TRD sport is worth more than
    an SR5

Get the used one inspected if you're serious about purchasing it. I bought a nearly new Tacoma myself and it had been abused by the previous owner, I wish I had just ponied up the extra couple grand and gotten a new one.

I just picked up my 2012 Tacoma DCLB V6 5 speed A/T TRD Sport 4x4 for 31,660 +TTL (roughly $1000 below invoice with Costco member discount). I have the TRD Sport extra value package...the only thing that's different is the wheels...I have the 17 inch brushed aluminum wheels, not the 18 inch bright shiny chrome. I don't care for the bright shiny chrome so it worked out perfect. I have the nav/entune jbl system.

Your pretty close to me. My dealership in Long Beach got my truck from a dealership in San Bernardino. I was told they had more of my exact package. If you want my dealers info send me a message. It was a no haggle price, when I told them I was a Costco member, they put me in touch with the fleet manager who handles all the Internet/Costco sales. He showed me a document they had from Costco showing the different model discounts for each vehicle. Tacoma was $1000 discount. I had a pretty good buying experience.

And that's brand new, not 4500 miles. And here is a picture of my truck so you can see the wheels that come with the sport extra value package.
