I'd look into some kind of weather resistant box in the bed then, or just say fuck it and carry a CO2 tank.

Yeah. Didn't like that option because the tire is RIGHT THERE and there's no way it's not gonna throw nastiness directly on the compressor...

How much was the tin foil? Where can I pick some up at? Will it give me any lift?

I think they're studs for mounting ABS stuff in earlier models. I'm sure you could chop 'em without issue.

The way I mounted mine is fine for on road use, I worry with all the bouncing offroad if it'd hold up over time...gonna be looking for some kind of rubber shim or pad to glue under it this week to give it some support from the bottom...gonna browse Lowe's some tomorrow after work and see if I can get creative. I'm thinking maybe a stack of rubber washers glued together, then stuffed under the compressor and glued in place.

    - Cheap.
    - I just used an All-Pro skidplate.
    - No additional lift.

That sPod is sweet. I like it better than a Blue Sea setup.

Me too, because I didn't have to wire a relay bank

    http://www.4x4spod.com/

Super fast shipping, came with note from the dude who designed the thing and runs the business, and he threw in some extra spade terminals, heat wrap, and zip ties for free.

For $345 it's a steal when you consider the amount of headache it saves you. Once it's installed, all you have to do to add accessories is disconnect the battery, run positive and negative from your accessory to the sPOD, reconnect the battery. Done.

It made the PIAAs MUCH easier. They come from factory in sets of two, with a wiring harness for two. To mount three, you have to either splice into the factory harness (which is a fucking rat's nest) or come up with some other solution. With the sPOD, I just extended the + and - off the lights with the needed amount of 14 gauge wire, spliced all three positives together into some 10 gauge, did the same with the negatives, and ran the two 10 gauge wires to the sPOD. It did the rest.

Yes - ABS System mounts there in mine - I've got an 07' - won't do a shit thing to you to lose them.

 always disin' the AP crew! :D
Good info - thanks for the link.
That is expensive, but after seeing all the BS BGR just did it's pretty much a no brainer to go that route. ;)

Yeah. I like overbuilt. The housing is like 1/4" thick polycarb (or something similar) so I think it'd hold up, but I don't wanna think, I wanna know I won't be having problems later.

I'll keep ye posted on what I come up with.

Bang on man. Everything linked right up perfectly first try.

I'm not sure it's much more expensive than a homebrew fuse block/relay bank. Most guys I know with custom setups (Blue Seas, etc.) are into theirs at least a few hundred bucks, to say nothing of the extra time spent bench wiring...

Why not a steel plate or something on the inside of the air box to help spread and hold some of the weight?

It really doesn't need it. The backing plate is plenty big (say 2.5 x 3in). The compressor is surprisingly heavy for its small size though and will lever on that a bit.

Again, I'm thinking some stacked thick rubber washers underneath to support it will be just the ticket.
