YES!!! Spoken like a true Liberal...!!!

BLAME everybody if it fails, then take credit if it succeeds!!! I love how they keep saying that! It was never any of the Dems fault! No, they are so righteous and always do the right thing!

Wasn't it Barny Frank and Clinton that started the whole sub-prime lending(Bush helped by keeping this going - so he is guilty as well)??? GEE let’s give these people that can't afford to buy a $500,000 house in Cali a loan... or how about Chris Dodd, wasn't he in charge of the Senate Banking Committee? WOW! He did a great job! Again, he is not to blame, right? What about Charlie Rangel? ISN’T HE IN CHARGE OF THE TAX LAWS? BUT WAIT, he didn't pay his taxes! Oh that's right he couldn't figure them out? What about all the other Dem's that did not pay their taxes? Guess it's ok for them, but for us - what's for us... YES! You guessed it, you are the winner of the grand prize behind door number 1. That's right folks, you get charged with additional fees or even jail!!!

What I am getting at is they are all to blame! However, I love how the Dem's are always pointing the finger and blaming everyone else, but you watch, they will be quick to accept the credit!

...and before you reply, know that I'm trying to support Obama, but honestly finding it harder each day to do so!

I mean, come on people, giving millions of YOUR money to ACORN... ??? What kind of jobs are they going to produce?

Taking over the Census? Never in the history of this Nation has the President ever taken over the census... Now what is he going to do with that?

Telling the CEO of a company to resign??? Do you really want the gov't telling you to step down, or even have them run a company (what about your company)?

Cutting military spending and projects? ...the list goes on and on...

Your right he is going to change this nation.. To a Socialist nation! Him, Pelosi (a real winner), Reed, Dodd, Frank (another dush bag) are going to run this nation straight into the ground. When you lose your job or can't sell your house (you can thank Barny Frank for that) don’t blame anybody else but yourself for voting these people and their policies into office.

Thank you! Or where was the news when Pelosi and the rest of the Dem's went on Vacation... Yeah, they are working soooo hard, i guess after beating up the exec's they had to fly themselves out for a little vac-a... freakin hypocrisy...

Actually I'd say that Gallup is a decent poll to measure things. They have only been wrong in predicting the outcomes of Presidential elections twice since they started in 1935: Once for the 1948 Presidential election and once more in 1976. That's impressive.

I'm not taking sides here, but merely stating their findings, and that is that as of today, 71% of the American public approves of the job the President is doing in regards to the economy, which right now is the top national issue of concern. That's a significant majority of the population in agreement. Of course not everyone agrees. There's probably some out there who truly believe Donald Duck should be president. But the fact remains: The majority of the US population approves of whats happening right now. 62% of all Americans approve the President himself. Of course there are strong partisan lines drawn in the sand, of which this forum is a perfect example with people who probably adhere to one party regardless of their performance or quality of work. But that percentage has been stable, and again, this points to a fairly heavy majority who view the current administration positively. These numbers are very different than those that the Bush admin had even though he did enjoy a spike in popularity right after 9/11.

    Lastly:
Dude... don't be a prick. Its called a democracy, people have the right to vote for who they want to vote for. Don't criticize them for the choice them made. Its called being an American.

do you mean there are 122 million people of voting age in the US (if so you would assume less than that would show up to vote)?

    the BBC reported:

    67 mill votes for obama

    58.4 mill for mccain

    1.6 mill other

this means there are 127 mill people that voted and i would guess another 20-30 mill that could have that didn't

this would put the total number of potential voters closer to my estimate

... if you get my point this explanation is trivial but i was just sayin :D

Ya, I did and ya, Its my opinion that you were being a prick. There's such a thing as voicing your opinion and calling people who are executing their constitutional right to vote for whoever they want. I don't care if people want to vote for Mickey Mouse, Martians, or whatever. When you say that 62 million people are "dumbasses" for voting, that goes a little far... in my opinion. Go ahead and rant, rave, curse, or whatever. I don't really care.

This thread had gone berserk. Probably another shining example of why its a BAD IDEA to post political threads on a forum like this. Anyhow, I'll be the first to step in and apologize to Secret Squirrel. Sorry I got angry at you personally. Voting rights are pretty important to me. Don't take it personally. That's it. I'm done with this thread.

And this is why I tend to shy away from political discussions on internet forums. I'm perfectly capable of defending my positions and can debate with the best of them. I'm involved in local politics and well informed about our national issues, but it none of that really matters because as it's been said before you're not going to change anyone's mind. It always quickly turns into a pissing match and unfortunately there seems to be little middle ground.

Just a suggestion, over on Wristtwisters.com the political crap got so ugly that they set up a private forum for it. You have to choose to be a member if you want to discuss politics, thereby sparing the rest of the members from having to see bashing political threads every time they sign on.

Agreed. But this forum seems to be capable of actually having decent and well-rounded discussions on occasion. But it all comes back to something my Dad said when I was a wee little boy, and that was there are two sacred cow discussions that should not be discussed with strangers: Politics and religion. He is totally right. In fact, we seldom discuss politics in our own family because the whole family is cut right down the middle with both parties equally represented. Like my Grandmother for example: Lifelong Republican. We take great care not to bring up anything that even remotely suggests any non-conservative issues. If so... all hell breaks loose. She is 87 years old, yet when she gets mad... oh my god!

Again, Sorry to those I might have pissed off. Its too damned early in the morning to be writing stuff.

Usually a poll taker will indicate whether the poll was "registered voters" or "likely voters". The difference can be quite significant.

During the election I actually paid more attention to two sites that basically crunch all the numbers from all the polls together. There are definitely Republican and Democrat leaning polls, so combining them all together is actually a bit more accurate. fivethirtyeight.com and pollster.com were far better polls to follow and their predicted results were dead on the money. I pretty much knew the election results a couple of days before it actually happened. The fivethirtyeight guy started doing polls because he developed a mathematical model for predicting what baseball teams would make it to the finals... and was right every time.
