Any other 2012 manual tranny owners have a weird play in the pivot of their clutch pedal. After about the first have inch of compressing the pedal it feels sloppy or "loose", then as the pedal goes to the floor it seems to be less sloppy. I have not had a chance to try another 12 MT to see if this is normal. And I've only made a half an effort to look up there, but with all the switches and other bs up there can't see any obvious issues. Wondering if anyone else is experiencing this.

Mine seems fairly secure, I've had BMW's with the clutch arm bushings that go bad and they wobble side to side. Is what you're referring to the side to side? Or is it more like it feels like there's not much pressure? My pedal (2012 OR DCSB) feels fairly firm with certain points more difficult than others due to the clutch return spring and hydraulics. Although I have a lot of probs with my truck's drivetrain and clutch, this one part works well.

Mine does the exact same thing. Very noticable in heavy traffic. After close inspection I found that the pedal isn't actually attached to the clutch assembly. The first inch and a half it just floats above the control. There is side to side movement before making contact, the spring mechanism that keeps tension is causing this. The entire clutch pedal is plastic which seems cheap considering the only metal is on the brake pedal assembly. It also seems to be way to high off the floor. My last 5spd clutch (on a frontier) was the same height as the brake pedal. I wish something could be done about it.

Yes it's a side to side movement. What issues have you you had with your driveline?

I was less than impressed when I originally noticed the platic pedals. I pointed it out to my salesman day one which of course he just brushed it off and changed the subject. have you spoken to Toyota about the "slop" at all? If so any results/explanations? I'm really curious to go to a dealership and sit in a few other fresh manuals and depress the pedals. Although it seems they only stock Auto trannys anymore.
