well ive been searching for tacoma for a few weeks now im getting serious because my truck sold. my dodge was a manual and i think i would rather have a auto for off roading and stuff but i found a super good deal on a 05 ext cab 4x4 v6 81k miles for 15k and i really dont know if i could pass it up if he still has it. whats yalls experience with a manual for off roading? backing up gravel hills ect.

It's going to be personal preference. You'll hear arguements from both sides, and things about trying to do a slow crawl etc, but bottom line is, it's going to be personal preference. When I got my first manual car 23 years ago, my step-father told me I'd be sick of it in 3 months (because he always got manual because they were cheaper). 23 years later, I waited for them to find me a manual truck because I still enjoy driving a manual.

understand your not being a dick haha the ones i have seen are about toughness on here..and my dodge truck was manual and 2 cars before that were both manuals. i love a manual tranny ive just never 4 wheeled with one and was looking to see if a manual is harder.

It's not as though clutching is hard in 4LO though.

I prefer the manual, personally. But it's your truck. Buy what you like.

I had always owned manuals until getting the Tacoma. Have to say I'm enjoying it a lot. Only time I get manual tranny envy is when on twisty roads.

Whatever you prefer is the best for you. I happen to prefer manual but my previous
Tacoma was an automatic. There is nothing wrong with either transmission.

never said one is better then the other. i can tell you what I think is better.

its all on personal preference. i would also rather have a manual transfer case instead of a dial on my dash, its just what I prefer.

this will most likely turn into the monthly auto vs manual debate that goes on for 10 pages.
