they are used, or returned cause something was wrong with them. the chick at the store told me they are completely rebuilt, inside and out tho

I would think that they would be as good as new, if not better - because the phones been on the tech's desk and any weakness / problems have been worked out..?

Apple's refurb program is excellent... They completely rebuild whatever it is (they do refurbs for almost all their products) , and they are always covered under the factory warranty... same as new...

If you have the chance to get one, do it... they don't last long before they sell out... usually 1-2 days...

I have a 16GB iPhone 3G. The guy at the At&t store said a lot of the "refurbs" are actually returns from people who later decided they couldn't afford the monthly contract. My phone came with a 1 year warranty that you can extend to 2 years via Applecare for $70.

none except for crappy hub caps and floor mats.
If its at a store, I'd say go for it. That way if it breaks you can actually walk in and return it.

No, according to the AT&T store, refurbs carry the same warranty as new ones. I've been considering getting a refurb when my contract expires at the end of the month.

Nevermind, I just looked it up...

I swear it used to say 1 year.
