Actually, I can indeed say that. I don't drink alcohol.* My abusive step-father was an alcoholic, which turned me off to the stuff for life. However, I also don't condemn this young man for a single mistake. As I said earlier, I just hope he learned a lesson and doesn't repeat that mistake - perhaps with even more serious consequences.

    *Tea, however, is another story.

drop of alcohol =/= drunk driving

And if no one is hurt except the drunk driver, yea, I don't have much sympathy. I used to have to deal with drunk driving assholes.

But I'd suggest if he was cut off, it was the other guy.

Either way...Should have turned on the Atrac...

I'm not going to turn this thread into a crazy debate but I can't let that slide.

I didn't say he deserved it, however I have NEVER drank and drove EVER.

I'm on two fire departments and I've seen families and people killed because of drunk driving, the people killed were driving down the road minding their own business. I've seen drunk drivers kill people AND walk away without a scratch, THEN drink and drive again.

I have NO sympathy for people who drink and drive.

Actually I've never done that. I'm not stupid enough to do that. I drink, I don't drive. Period.

So the OP left us hanging?

    :playball:

It would appear the OP was driving too fast. I wonder how the insurance will play out. The property damage I would guess would be around 10K.

Thanks for that man. Sorry to leave you guys hanging. It was me who was drinking. I didn't post this to get sympathy from anyone whatsoever. I also didn't post it to get all the critism from anyone whatsoever. I have enough of that going on in my own head every second since it has happened.

I was and am an idiot for doing what I did. It won't ever happen again. I've learned my lesson and I'm sure I will learn it more and more as time goes on.

So with that said please don't criticize me and please don't sympathsize for me. If anything sympathsize for the truck.

However, his inability to control the vehicle during a relatively minor incident (on what is supposed to be a comparatively slow moving city street) suggests impaired driving.

Look at the length of those skid marks, which enough energy remaining for the vehicle to cause substantial property damage after slowing due to that skidding. At the very least, he was hauling ass, which also suggests impaired judgement.

The car turning in front of him may have been misled by his unexpected speed.

Opps. Didn't see this before posting the above. I just hope any lesson learned is remembered the next time you're drinking. Anyway, we've all made mistakes. The important part now is what you do from now on.

I haven't heard from the insurance yet. Probably get a check for the worth before the wreck.
    Hopefully get another taco sometime

I have no sympathy but just be glad you didn't hurt anyone else. At least you can walk away from this knowing you didn't take someones life. It could of ended much worse.

    Live and learn
