I blame the car that pulled in front of him, not him being drunk.

I see far too many idiots who pull/cutoff right in front of cars that are approaching really fast instead of waiting a few seconds for them to pass.

That's a good point but still, shouldn't be drinking and driving (which obviously he knows that)

So the insurance company is going to cut you a check even though you were driving drunk? Am I missing something or is this normal?

I would think his insurance company would drop him and tell him to pound sand, not cut him a check.

Looking at the carnage from that wreak, I would say the Tacoma took it like a champ. I always feel safe driving my truck after seeing how well they hold up in wreaks.

Glad you and everyone around the scene made it out alive OP. Bicycles are much cheaper anyway :p

It's very difficult to truly judge the speed of a vehicle approaching virtually straight at you. If you wait for every vehicle approaching (just in case it is speeding), no cars would ever move at uncontrolled interesctions. At some point, you must give at least some weight to what speed the vehicle is supposed to be driving - which is why we have regulated speed limits applying to everyone.

I blame the person who got into their vehicle and drove after drinking.

I've seen far too many drunk drivers hit and kill innocent motorists because they are too egotistic to realize that they cannot in fact drive just fine while under the influence.

    Yes I was.

I had just got off work and had about 5 beers pretty quick on an empty stomach. I was one turn from home.

Don't worry, there's a lot of self-righteous pricks on here that drink and drives...even if you have one class of wine, and kill another person in a accident, you are in a world of hurt. They never tell you that when you get that stupid chart from the DMV. It's best not to drive under the influence, period!!!

    Good lesson to learn!
