Or just a stupid driver. Had a close one last weekend with some dipshit wanting to pass me on a two lane. He cut it way too close. Had one thing gone wrong he'd of taken out oncoming traffic, and likely me as well. No margin for error.

I think OP posted this to show what happens when you drink and drive. Thankfully noone died. Let's all take note to be more careful. Examine your own faults. Maybe you don't drive drunk, but every last one of us is human and has made a mistake. Cell phone, radio station change, daydreaming, etc.

Nobody on here should be telling OP how stupid he is unless they are completely perfect. He knows he fucked up already.

I have seen lives taken and lives changed from car accidents, I don't need to be educated on what can happen. A guy steps up and says he did something wrong and got lucky and learned from his mistake, I try to give him some credit.

OP thank you for admitting this and including pictures as a warning to us all. I'm thankful that you and everyone affected is physically okay. I won't comment good or bad otherwise, as you had asked not to.

So my questions to you are, did you get sent to the hospital to be checked out, did you spend the night in jail, how did your family react (supportive or non) and what is going to happen next?

    Cited.....not convicted. Court is Sept-13

No Priors. Looking into a lawyer now.

Im not admitting to anything....thats not what this is about. Im putting it out there for people to see and hopefully remember the next time they think about getting behind the wheel after they have drank.

Thank you. I haven't stopped thinking about it since it has happened. I probably won't for a while. Ive already learn from this. Ive also realized that it could have been much much worse. Nobody was hurt. I wasn't hurt, somehow. Im thankful for the way it happened, since it did happen.

Thats what this post is for.

Theres a bar next to my work.

Ill keep my job. I worked tonight.

Thank you. Im not that kind of guy. I usually do get a cab. I am a responsible guy, besides this incident.

No hospital. Spent about 5 hours in. Family is thankful Im ok and no one was hurt. They are supportive because they know yelling and rubbing it in isn't going to get anyone anywhere. Im yelling at myself enough as it is. I love my truck and it brings me to tears thinking that its gone. It was my first vehicle and I've had it since it was new 6 years ago. As for whats going to happen next, probably a lot of stuff. I couldn't tell you exactly.

    Glad you okay OP

I'll say this tho. I don't agree with drinking and driving at all been hit by one and it fucked my world up. But texting and checking email while driving is worse.

    http://www.cnbc.com/id/31545004/Texting_And_Driving_Worse_Than_Drinking_and_Driving

I see it all the time.. How many of you that are bashing this kid do this and get away with it? 39 states have banned texting while driving so most of you that bash this kid for breaking the law are breaking the law daily. Just sayin

If being cited for DUI isn't enough for the driving impaired then I'm not sure what is.

I have told everyone that has asked that i was driving to fast, but i don't know the exact speed because i was trying to concentrate on avoiding the car pulling out in front of me, not looking at my console.

Im confused... Why didnt the officer arrest you?! If you admitted to being drunk... He should have arrested you on the spot?! How does that work out? IMO you should have been arrested. You should lose your license, You should have to pay for the damages to the wall also. That would be a minimum of what you deserve. Idiots that decide to get behind the wheel drunk deserve to have there hands and feet broken off. So many people have lost there lives from Drunk Drivers, Nobody is going to tolerate your mistake, Shouldnt even happen once. I hope the courts take your license and sentence you to jailtime or at least a bracelet or something! The mods should ban you, You dont deserve to own a Tacoma, You dont deserve to own a vehicle.

Vote to ban! Your the worst kind of drivers out there.

no sympathy no criticism, Just plain old brute honesty.

Our justice system here in Ca is all screwed up in everywhich way possible you all should know that by now. The OP isn't going to spend anytime in jail, he's gunna get some fines , have to go to MADD and AA meetings and get a little community service or some shit. OP hope you learned your lesson you bonehead. Like others have asked what was your BAC at the time of arrest?

    Mythbusters disagrees ;)
On another note, I just heard a report that (I think it was) Fiat is coming out with a car that has a damn coffee maker in the center console. WTF? Aren't there enough stupid things in cars to distract people?

Damn man you just described my dead step dad (no loss there) and my dislike for alcohol. And my love for tea.

Some stuff. Not a lot, just some.
It's pretty much the same in PA. You get pulled over, sobriety check, trip to hospital for blood check, fill out some papers and go home. Now if you do something even stupider like flee the scene of an accident or cause property damage (similar to the OP's case here) you will do some time but not until after the court date.

Of course the levels of punishment increase if you are a repeat offender. It also depends what county the DUI happens in.

Myth busters = not scientific. There are multiple studies that have equated hours of fatigue to a set BAC. I'm looking for links right now...
