wait for the "bail out", when penn state has to pay out 100's of millions in civil penalties.

I'm sure China will lend the money. :D

Punishing the university as a whole for the actions of a handfull of people is totally irrational. Tuition won't suffer either. They just had the 3rd highest donation year ever.

    no one is suggesting so.

however, the question is?...can the university afford 100's of millions in litigation & civil penalties costs?

I really have no idea. I know PSU had maybe still has the largest alumni network in the nation, so there is money out there for them. However if I still lived in PA I would not let my kid go there. There will be more fallout from this, more people involved to be exposed. All to protect the football program. I think they should get the death penalty. SMU got it for much much less.

Plus they're more than just State College. There are like...20 branch campuses. The school has almost a $2 bil endowment.

So if your son was being recruited by Penn State to play football (which means other Big 10 schools are too), would you let him go there?

    NO

If I had a son with college level football ambitions...

He would go to a southern school.

    Auburn
    Tallahassee
    Gainesville
    Georgia

The Paterno Statue was removed yesterday. The NCAA is to announce it's sanctions against Penn State this morning.

PSU hit with $60mil fine, Paternos wins to 98 are wiped off the books, and they lose 20 scholarships for 4 yrs. I would have liked it to be worse but they're going after the football program which is good.

Probably the biggest hit, no Bowl games for four years.

    PSU will appeal for certain.
