Hey, really glad you are okay & had enough guts to post your mistake on here as a good reminder for the rest of us. I have driven intoxicated a few times in the past & was lucky enough not to have hurt anyone or myself. Never got caught & never got in any accidents intoxicated. I learned my lesson when I lost a friend to it. Not me involved in that one.

Again, glad you are okay & thank you for posting this.

Not necessarily.... A DUI driver (.19) hit me and another attended vehicle and fled. Luckily we found her down the road and she only received ARD. It depends on the DA and the county.

Really? there are people replying in here stating that a DUI is "not that bad everybody makes mistakes" therefore condoning and ILLEGAL activity. Direct violation of TW COC. That is the same as condoning murder.

We all know drinking and driving is very bad. It kills many people every day around the world.
That said, I only commend the OP in that he came out and exposed himself out of shame and guilt to us knowing he did not have to. I'm glad he realizes this and is not in denial about his poor choices.

I myself have driven drunk twice. Both times were coming from a party. Both times I had felt absolutely fine and not a trace of a buzz when I left. Each time the alcohol had "set in" while driving. On both occasions, once I felt it coming on, I immediately pulled off and parked my vehicle. One time I was walking home and was stopped by police. I told them everything and I was thanked and they drove me home. The other time I called friend to pick me up. Because it happened twice, I absolutely wont drink if I have to drive, or I wont drive even after one.

Like I said, persons in this thread are saying "its not that bad everybody makes mistakes" This constitutes condoning.

Not gonna argue my personal life record here with you because I never said such. However I did quote a few in this that are as adamant as I am against DUI for the record.

Well for one Murder is a crime that involves taking another person's life intentionally. DUI isn't. It's a poor choice and dangerous, but it's hardly comparable to murder. The OP admitted his wrong, he was caught and will be tried in the court of law. He doesn't need ridiculous comments from people who can't control their emotions saying he's a bad person.

I'm sorry about people's family member's who have been killed by DUI's. Just like I feel bad for the people killed by another driver falling asleep at the wheel, or street racing, or the cyclist who got killed because someone had to write that email on their blackberry and couldn't wait. Driving and going out on the roads is a dangerous endeavor and it's a risk we all take.

I ride my bike to work everyday and everyday nearly get hit by drivers not paying attention. They're just as bad as DUI's.

For those that actually want to do research, look up how bad an organization like MADD is. Also, try looking for reviews of statistics concerning alcohol related accidents that didn't involve other factors. The results might surprise you.

What my post was getting at was as to why the thread needs closing not how much more/less worse his crime is. SIMPLE!

Thread needs closed as it is condoning the actions through TW members responses.

Maybe you should look up the definition of condoning.

No one is arguing that it's harmless. We're saying that he messed up, like every other human on the planet. No one is perfect. He can learn his lesson and move on. He'll get punished and probably never do it again.

First off, of all of the posts you quoted, I only see one that would be considered condoning (the first) and it's apparent you can't see the sarcasm in it.

Now, if you have that much disdain for this thread...I suggest you leave it.
