Seriously everyone needs to chill the fuck out. The kid got a DUI, made a mistake and hopefully learned his lesson. I've lost people to drunk drivers too, I got a DUI when I was 20, big-fucking-deal.. It's called life, we all go through it and some of us learn the hard way. The OP feels bad for what he did and knows he messed up bad. If he never drinks and drives again then he learned his lesson. Nobody was hurt, nobody died, so just get over this already.

Uhh what? I think you have a skewed perception of how the legal system works. Pleading guilty at an arraignment causes you to lose constitutional rights afforded to you (motion hearing is a major one). It in no way means you don't show remorse for your actions.

All pleading guilty will do will lead to you getting nailed by the long arm of the law.

Why, would anyone, who is innocent or guilty, give up their constitutional rights?

Doing the right thing does not mean going to the legal system and making things for yourself worst than they have to be. The legal system doesn't care if "you're sorry and show remorse". You'll get slammed going in with a guilty plea and with this type of case, could very well end up in jail. Learning your less does not necessarily mean getting hammered by the court system.

I really hope for your sake you never end up in the legal system.

 

I don't feel bad for the OP or his truck. F*** him, DUI is 100% preventable. Chances are he will turn out like most drivers caught driving drunk: a repeat offender.
