Well when there checkpoint is stopping everyone not just "suspicious vehicles" then they are pretty well covered.

Your so PRO-Civil rights and yet you forgot MIRANDA????? HELLO "if you cannot afford an attorney, one will be appointed to you". Jeeze man its the basics.

I can tell you're still Naive and young. You don't just get an attorney appointed to you because you can't afford one. You have to qualify. Plenty of people are above the threshold but can't really afford the legal defense of a good attorney so their stuck in the spot where they lose their home or plead guilty.

Plus, I don't know if you heard of the saying "you get what you pay for". The same goes for legal defense.

Most checkpoints don't stop every car (it would take forever) so it's usually every nth car. Unfortunately, some Officers try and stop a car that looks suspicious or has a young guy driving (happened to me, I was let go).

Friend of mine got drunk and totaled his brand new Buick GSX back in 1986. The insurance cut him a check for the entire amount of the car. About 18K at the time. He got a DUI as well, but that was not nearly as bad back then (punishment wise)

it really shouldn't be random, they should be profiling, that's what makes them smart, as much as we say our rights are being violated by it not being random, we all are out there on the streets, and random or not, the possibility of being pulled over at a random check point is there. BTW, i do NOT think that random home searches are justified, it may be the same principle, but kinda like comparing apples to oranges.

I'm sure the Officer didn't even get so much as a talking to from anyone. They see it has their job to protect and serve, if they bend the rules they're willing to let the court system duke it out.

Qualify? You don't think they ask for proof of your financials when you ask for a public defender? Are you serious?

You honestly think it's ok for the police to profile people?

Do you not? as you said its there job to protect and serve, so say someone breaks into your house, you come home see him, he get out before you get a shot off, you call 911 describe him, now the officers are profiling looking for someone who matches the "profile" you gave.

    see what i did there.

Yah, you showed you don't know what profiling is.

Profiling = pulling someone over or stopping someone because of their looks or race or cause they drive a sports car.

Stopping someone when a call went out giving a description of the subject =/= profiling.

..........ok i'm sorry but that is dumb as hell and makes no sense at all. Profiling someone and acting on that with no prior knowledge of the person except for stereotypes is completely different than finding some one who matches the description of a profile given of them. That would be like you telling the police that someone broke in and stole your tv, and the cops ONLY looking for black people. Actually telling them the characteristics of the person is not discrimination or unjust profiling. I think it's time for you to stop posting, because you are sounding pretty dumb right about now.
