I put a SnugTop Sport on my 2010 Tacoma double cab 4x4, and I did not get the option to have a boot placed between the shell and the cab, essentially sealing it together.

I now have 2 windows ( with the center slider ) about an inch apart, that I have almost no way to clean, and thats just frustrating. I did not get the boot placed on because I was worried about tearing/breaking it when I went in the dirt to play.

Does anyone have experience with this? Thanks -

Too late now , but a removeable front window in the cap is the best way to clean the back glass of the cap

Maybe you can get a flexible brush between the cap and cab ?

I could still have the boot placed on, Im just concerned about damaging it when Im off road due to torsion between the cab and bed. Im not sure how much flex is in it....

There's plenty of flex with a boot on the cap. It will maintain the seal off road. A slider on the cab and a boot on the topper is a good configuration, IMO.

it's pretty easy to loosen the cap and slide it back a foot so you can clean the back window... even for 1 guy it's not that heavy.

True , but I find resetting the weatherstrip at the cab end is a pain in the ass , so glad I got the removeable slider in the cap

    Good to know, Thanks.

Ya, Loosening the cap sounds like a lot of work just to clean a window that will get a ton of film on it within a week. Im thinking about rigging up some kind of brush that can fit into the crack

see if your dealer can retrofit a fold down window. It would be so much easier.

Someone should start a new thread with a poll and have these 3 as an option, it's going to be hard to choose...

Im sure $$$ will be a part of my final decision. It was installed by the dealership, at no extra cost. Funny, the dealership sold me the Cap cheaper than I could find it anywhere else.

BUCKLE UP! It makes it harder for Aliens to pull you out of your Truck.
For 10 years I drove my "other" truck with the back window from the cab and the front from the cap removed (no windows at all) with just the gasket and had zero problems. I hung a piece of fabric material to close off for summer/winter and it's nice to be able to throw sh-t back there. I'm procrastinating but I'll do this truck, too.

A boot cost me $50 from Leer. Less weight, less complications, more options, good seal. I had the same Leer boot for 15 years on my '97 Taco with no problems. If you do get the boot, make sure they fit it around the cab rear brake light properly when they install it.

Yeah, that's the beauty of a boot (gasket you say). You can remove the cab window and still have a good seal between the topper and the cab. This 2012's cab slider opening is pretty tiny, so I'm thinking to remove the cab window also.
