Just ordered from CVJ with the high angle silicon boots. Great ppl and easy to work with!

Total price is $232 with a $150 credit back when I turn in my old axels.

Yes it is. Extra $32 for the silicon boot each.

Its for high angel CV axle flexing (I think they are the Porche boots everyone has been getting but if not, they are about equivalent).

I don tknow what the price would be for a Gen 2 but give them a call and ask for Dale, she'll hook you up:

They aren't the 930s but are sorta similar in design

Interesting about the CV boots. Looks like Rockauto/Cardone/Master Pro have 'high angle' boots.

Maybe it's the lack of clamps on the Porsche boot that makes them better?

Those ARE NOT The Porsche boots. They are just a replacement boot that is designed like the outer boots on your trucks. TC, All Pro all have OE high angle boots. They have more fins on them and a tad longer. thats why they flex more

I have 930 boots on my truck they are not the same. They are differnt types also of 930 boots. But one of the things is the boot itself is bigger and will have a gap the is closed on the joint side. Also the linner thats on the axle is pretty tight. And the boot is longer as well.

I didn't see anything about replacing the "tulip"/ball bearings or whatever is inside.

Is that not part of a rebuild?

I'm just now having to repair/replace mine and I'm obviously looking at ALL my options. I noticed the other day that the one boot was ripped and the opposite side is gonna fail soon. It had just happened, but unfortunately I was 300 miles from home. I was gonna replace the boots, but I'm not sure how long they'll last if I just replace the boots.

With that being said, I'm gonna have to pull the whole axle anyway, just to replace the boot, right?

300 miles isn't really anything to worry about as far as driving with a torn boot - folks have gone much further and successfully rebooted. My recommendation would be to replace the boots (with OEM) and keep on driving.

By the time you're replacing the tulip/bearings, you're really into the relm of situations where it's just cheaper to buy a reman from CVJ.

And yes, you have to pull the entire axle to replace the boots.

Thank you for the write up turboDb. It was helpful in rebooting my axels a few weeks ago. I just peered under my truck because I saw some fresh grease slung around the wheel well. I noticed it’s pushing past the outer boot clamp only on my passenger side. I went back and tightened the clamp, although I could barely add any more tension. Any other reason it may be slinging? I bought a pack of clamps for the replacement inner clamp, should I switch out this clamp?

The clamp being a bit too loose, or not quite seated correctly on the mating surface is all that I can really think of as to why grease would be slinging out. If you still have grease slinging after tightening the clamp, you can try removing it, making sure the boot is seated correctly, and then using one of the extra clamps in your pack to secure it again.

    Good luck!
